Charlie Asher is a pretty normal guy with a normal life, married to a bright and pretty woman who actually loves him for his normalcy. They're even about to have their first child. Yes, Charlie's doing okay—until people start dropping dead around him, and everywhere he goes a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Charlie Asher, it seems, has been recruited for a new position: as Death.
It's a dirty job. But, hey! Somebody's gotta do it.

A Dirty Job
Two years later and I am still laughing. I have read a lot of Christopher Moore's work and I have to say this is his best work.
"A Dirty Job" is, without question, one of the best books I've read in years. Christopher Moore certainly knows how to grab your attention and keeps it to the final page!
I'll agree that this is one of the best, and most interesting books I've read in quite awhile. The characters a quite interesting, and I live how he threads several of the characters throughout many if his other books as well. But this is (so far) my favorite book of his.
