A Game of Thrones 4-Book Bundle
A Song of Ice and Fire Series: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows
George R.R. Martin
This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.
The perfect gift for fans of HBO's Game of Thrones—a boxed set featuring the first four novels!
George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series has become, in many ways, the gold standard for modern epic fantasy. Martin—dubbed the "American Tolkien" by Time magazine—has created a world that is as rich and vital as any piece of historical fiction, set in an age of knights and chivalry and filled with a plethora of fascinating, multidimensional characters that you love, hate to love, or love to hate as they struggle for control of a divided kingdom.
This bundle includes the following novels:
A GAME OF THRONES
A CLASH OF KINGS
A STORM OF SWORDS
A FEAST FOR CROWS
A Masterpiece by any standard!
I think I can only add to the praise that "A Song Of Ice And Fire" has rightfully earned with this review. I, like many, was introduced to this series through the HBO television show. Initially daunted by the price, I downloaded a sample and was hooked right away. George Martin is a masterful author, and it shows on many levels; not only are his characters so dynamic and fantastic yet so readily relatable, he dares to defy conventions found not only in fantasy but in literature. I can't think of any other work of literature in which the most sympathetic character, indeed what could have been the protagonist, was killed so early on, or when a formerly antipathetic character was changed to be a sympathetic one! I offer "A Song of Ice and Fire" the highest possible praise, and look forward to the coming of books five and beyond! FIRE AND BLOOD!!!
An actual review...
For those of you looking for an actual review instead of alot of whining about pricing, here you go:
THESE BOOKS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!! It is an absolutely awesome series, with interesting characters, great storylines and plot twists. As much as I am enjoying the HBO series based on the first book, it really does not do the series justice. If you liked the TV show, you are going to love the books...
...yes the pricing is lame, but this is not the place for it. If you don't agree with the price, don't buy the ibook...pretty simple
About the best
I started reading this series a few years back and am one that has been waiting for the new book for what seems like years, without complaining. Clearly the delay had something to do with the HBO series. Lord of the Rings set the standard for fantasy in my mind. The Legend of the Seeker by Goodkind and the Annals of the Black Company by Glen Cook have bolstered this genre but the Song of Fire and Ice sets a new standard of excellence. Martin is clearly a master story teller and this series is a step beyond anything I have read. To me, the price of this series is irrelevant. To have this series on my mobile device and not have to carry the book around (or lose it) is far better than squabbling about a few dollars. Salvatore's Drizzt, Terry Brooks Shanarra series and Jordans Wheel of Time are all series I have read along with too many others to list. If these books are to your liking you will love this series. I have them in paper form but am now repurchasing in ebook form. Happy reading.
