A Mad, Wicked Folly

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

In Edwardian London, a girl dreams of being an artist, despite her family's disapproval.

Welcome to the world of the fabulously wealthy in London, 1909, where dresses and houses are overwhelmingly opulent, social class means everything, and women are taught to be nothing more than wives and mothers. Into this world comes seventeen-year-old Victoria Darling, who wants only to be an artist—a nearly impossible dream for a girl.
After Vicky poses nude for her illicit art class, she is expelled from her French finishing school. Shamed and scandalized, her parents try to marry her off to the wealthy Edmund Carrick-Humphrey. But Vicky has other things on her mind: her clandestine application to the Royal College of Art; her participation in the suffragette movement; and her growing attraction to a working-class boy who may be her muse—or may be the love of her life. As the world of debutante balls, corsets, and high society obligations closes in around her, Vicky must figure out: just how much is she willing to sacrifice to pursue her dreams?

A mad wicked folly

I haven't read much in the past year for pure fun. Usually readin motivational, inspiring stuff. This novel was fun , romantic , and inspiring. I enjoyed reading it and didn't want it to be over. I love that the character was artistic, and thought outside the box. She also, didn't let some big obstacles stop her.

Great book!

Loved this book! As a fan of regency romances I was thoroughly entertained reading about early 1900's living of wealthy, non-royals. The heroine, Vicky, was a fantastic character. I loved her antics and her involvement in the world outside of the boundaries set by her wealthy, conservative parents. And Vicky's love interest - swoon! I could have read another book about all of the characters she involves herself with in her singleminded pursuit to become an artist in an era where women were not given a voice or a chance to control their own destiny!
