Turn on any classic rock station and you’ll soon hear a song that Ken Scott worked on. As one of the preeminent recording engineers and producers of the 20th century, Ken has garnered Gold, Platinum, and Diamond record sales awards; multiple Grammy nominations; and even a Clio Award (for his recording of the classic Coke ad “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”). Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust shares Ken Scott’s intimate memories of working with some of the most important artists of the 20th century, while crafting a sound that influenced generations of music makers.
Ken's work has left an indelible mark on hundreds of millions of fans with his skilled contributions to Magical Mystery Tour and The White Album. As producer and/or engineer of six David Bowie albums (including the groundbreaking Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars) as well as other timeless classics, the sound Ken crafted has influenced several generations of music makers that continues to this day. Ken captured the sonic signatures of a who's-who of classic rock and jazz acts, including Elton John, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, Duran Duran, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, America, Devo, Kansas, The Tubes, Missing Persons, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Billy Cobham, Dixie Dregs, and Stanley Clarke.
This is his story, complete with funny, provocative, and oh-so-honest tales of the studio, stage, and even an infamous swimming pool incident. Never-before-seen photographs and technical details make this book a must-have for every music fan.

The book so far is great and fun to read on an ipad with one exception. Any item that is referred to as an Insert Figure either isn’t included or simply will not show up on an ipad. I’m awaiting an answer from Apple Support.
Early Praise from Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust
Excellent book! Ken Scott is one of the greatest recording engineer, producer of all time!! I love how he tells the story of the best days when music was made the way it was supposed to be done. It amazes me when reading this book how much the music industry has changed for the worst in many ways. I felt like he was right by my side telling his experiences he had with all the greatest artist in which this type of talent has become practically extinct. And also how the big record companies has destroyed the music business. People like Ken are also unfortunately becoming extinct in which his quest to achieve the best sound, attention to details and eagerness to expand on the artist vision is why he'e one of the best. I hope I'll get to meet him some day. But for now this will do!
Fantastic book - and insert figures work now
What a fun and interesting read! Ken and Bobby take you on a journey through the creation of some of the greatest albums of all time. It's like you're a fly on the wall seeing how things really were in the studio. I am learning so much and having a blast. One reviewer mentioned that the insert photos were hard to find - that's fixed now. When you see the words "see insert photo xxxx" just click on that text and you see the image they are referring to. If you don't see it on yours, you have the old version - just delete and then re-download to get the newest version. And WOW! The photos are amazing! Paul, George, Ringo, and John sitting behind the mixing desk with Ken in various photos - very cool. Love this book!!
