Allegiance of Honor

Book 15, A Psy/Changeling Novel - A Psy-Changeling Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world…
A staggering transformation has put the Psy, humans, and changelings at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: old enemies, new allies, wary loners.
But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten, and it threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: a child who is both Psy…and changeling.
To find the lost and protect the vulnerable—and to save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

Apr 25, 2016 – Singh (Shards of Hope) once again delivers an epic delight with a large ensemble cast in the 15th Psy-Changeling paranormal, which wraps up several significant story threads. The war is over and the psychic Psy, shape-shifting changelings, and ordinary humans have all begun the slow, tortuous process of learning to live together without fear. Fear is the primary motivation for those who oppose the tentative peace. Naya, the toddler daughter of Sascha and Lucas (from 2006's Slave to Sensation), is at the center of the latest maelstrom. She is the first of her kind, a changeling with Psy powers. When a plot to kidnap Naya is uncovered, beloved faces from the DarkRiver, SnowDancer, Forgotten, and Psy populations all play integral role in protecting her as well as assisting the BlackSea changelings in tracking lost members who have gone missing. No single couple or group is favored in this sweeping, somewhat futuristic fantasy. Romance, family, and loyalty are celebrated even as the dangers of a brave new world without war are explored.

LITERAL ADDICTION’s Review of Allegiance of Honor

Our review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Reckless Reaper - Shawnie:
*eARC received to give an honest review.

My total admiration of Nalini Singh had no standing on my personal feelings for the book. I can't really write too much without making this into a spoiler review and I have those types of reviews so this is not going to be a long review.

When I started Allegiance I went in knowing that it was going to be multiple P.O.V. I also knew it was going to be a complete Psy/Changeling novel, no short stories. What I did not know was that Ms. Singh was going to pack this book to the brim with all the characters that we have come to know and love. Now I won't lie all the switching gave me a headache, until I realized that is she still running the same plotline throughout all the different points of view. She also does an amazing job of running the plot line while catching us up on everything that is happening with the various couples. I found myself eagerly awaiting the next pov switch - who would give me the next piece of information and character update. I truly believe though that the best parts and also the most informative were the letters that were sprinkled throughout the entire book, but didn't take anything away from the bottom storyline, because Singh made sure everything connected - everything. We finally get some back story on the human that was best friends with two very dangerously powerful Psy.

There was never a dull moment in the book, there was also a lot happening but that just underlined one very important thing that I think brought the whole purpose of the book to the forefront... The Psy, the Changeling and the humans were working together to get to a place were they could coexist without issues. Yes, there was your usual suspects that were firmly against the unification of the races, but the love, respect and pure stubbornness that our good guys possess was enough to eclipse all the hate. The title of the book pretty much sums it up with no issues ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR. These races gave their allegiance to one another nothing and no one is going to take that a way from them. Their honor will not let them back down or turn a blind eye to the happenings in the world because it all affects them in some way shape or form. They are united and they refuse to go back to what they were. Sascha I think said it a best... "I believe in us... All of us. I believe we'll find a way out of the darkness. The consortium won't won-and in beating it, we'll forge bonds no one will be able to break." She had it right, except for one thing. The bonds are already forged, they just have to reinforce them with hardened steel wrapped in love, understanding and acceptance.

Allegiance Of Honor is the book that gave us all hope that things would be great, that the races could survive with help from one another. Allegiance is the book that put it all in prospective for them all and gave off one simple statement from our many hero's (even if some don't think they are) in my opinion - YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US AND WE DON'T PLAN ON LOSING.

Adored this story!!!

Nalini Singh has been an auto-buy author for me from the moment I read my very first Guild Hunter book. Yes I started reading Guild Hunter before the Psy-Changelings, but in my defense, there were only 4 of the Guild Hunter books at the time and at least 8 Psy-Changelings. As soon as I read Slave to Sensation I was hooked and now can't wait for the release of each new book in the series. Allegiance of Honor was so worth the wait!

I absolutely adored Allegiance of Honor. I knew in advance it was going to be an ensemble story, not just focusing on just one main couple as other books in the series. I loved getting to spend time with so many of my favorite couples. I especially loved time with Lucas, Sasha and Naya. I have to also say that the time spent with Sasha and Nikita and Naya absolutely was one of my most favorite parts of the book. It gave me new respect for Nikita and also made me want to see Nikita and Anthony have a relationship, as he is so protective of Nikita. I also loved watching Naya grow and start to shift. I just wanted to cuddle her, especially since she is a target now since she is the first every child who is both Psy and Changeling.

I loved getting to see the progression of the Arrows as they worked to turn the squad from a squad of killers to a pack family. Yes they are still killers, but they aren't only killers now. I really think Aden and the other Arrows are on the right track and look forward to seeing all they can do while working with the other Psy, Changelings, humans, and the Forgotten.

It was also common knowledge that Riley and Mercy's pupcubs would finally be born in Allegiance of Honor. I would have loved more one on one time with Riley and Mercy, but did love that we finally found out about how many babies and the sexes and type of changelings of each.

There is more time with the Water Changelings in this book. While I'm starting to like the various characters we've met, it felt like they got more page time than some of my other favorite characters. Again, I'm starting to connect with these characters and can see them being huge allies to the other Changelings and the Psy. As hard as everyone worked to help them out, I hope they return the favors in the future.

I was hooked on Allegiance of Honor from the very first page. In fact I moved it up on my reading list as I needed a comfort read, and without reading it first, I just knew that once again Nalini Singh would deliver me a book I would want to read over and over again. I love this series so much and would put Allegiance of Honor on my re-read list anytime I need a comfort read.

Forgettable, only for diehard fans

Feel free to skip this installment, you won't be missing anything. Mostly we are just hanging out with characters we already know. However, since they're all blissfully mated/married, there isn't really much dramatic tension or emotional growth for them to go through. The novel lays the groundwork for future conflict with the Consortium, but so far I don't find the Consortium compelling as an enemy (certainly not compared to the Council in the early books of this series). All good things must come to an end, even the beloved Psy-Changling series.
