Amber to Ashes
Part One in the Torn Hearts Series
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
From the New York Times bestselling author of Collide and Pulse comes a gritty new novel about a shattered young woman who unexpectedly falls for two best friends.
They were a storm I never saw coming, an unforeseen heartbreak on the edge of a dangerous cliff.
Amber Moretti’s life changes in the span of minutes. An orphaned outsider, she is desperate to start fresh the moment she walks onto campus. In the time it takes to cross the university’s dining hall, she meets two men who bring color, air, and light to her darkened world.
They became my addiction, each a needle to my next hit, my high.
Brock Cunningham’s appeal is dizzying, a potent force Amber can’t deny. A green-eyed smooth talker, he instantly attracts Amber. It doesn’t take long for him to consume her every thought, her every breath.
Ryder Ashcroft, a blue-eyed, tattooed, and pierced bad boy, turns Amber off immediately—that is, until he kisses her, stealing a piece of her heart, her soul.
They were as opposite as fire and ice, yet I ached for them equally.
Never knowing she could be broken down in so many unexpectedly beautiful yet petrifying ways, Amber finds herself falling for both men.
Immoral? Maybe. I say undeniable. Uncontained.
But one devastating event changes everything, shattering each of their lives...and Amber isn’t sure she can recover from it.

Amber To Ashes
Loved it!!!! Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh was…. Heart warming. Heart Wrenching. Beautifully Written. Suspenseful. Sexy. And oh so so Hot!! Gail once again, was able to break my heart only to repair and break it again. Her characters were real with real problems. I wanted to be part of their world, be the one to help confront them as stories were told about their childhood. I wanted to jump in, pull each one of them for a hug, relieving their pain. I wanted to be the one to comfort each one of them, to tell them it will be okay.
Three friends with a strong connection are fighting to not only save themselves but to save each other. Brock and Ryder are smart, in their final year of college as two of the highest alphas males on campus. Both are hot, sexy and every girl’s desire. They are as different as night and day, one sporting the clean cut college boy look and the other the tattooed bad boy. They are best friends who have always been there for each other, bonded for life.
Amber is the new student to college, running from her past and in need of a friend. Someone who will listen, understand, and not judge her past. Brock and Ryder bring Amber into their world, teaching her to trust and live life, not to hide from her demons. Each are able to give a part of themselves to bring Amber from the nightmare of her past into the light of the future.
Gail McHugh is a talented writer, able to bring out all of your emotions. Gail brings tears to your eyes from the pain of the trio, following only to give you more tears from the character's hilarious interactions together. The characters are so real, the reader wants to jump into the story to become part of their world.
Amber to Ashes is one of the most anticipated books being released this year. Honored, I was allowed an E- Arc for this upcoming Best Seller book, which I am sure will not just reach the heights of her first series, Collide and Pulse, but surpass them. If you haven’t, I highly suggest pre- ordering it. It is defiantly worth the wait. I honestly believe that a book that keeps your attention throughout, then after holds your mind captive, makes a best seller. Trust me- you will not soon forget this book!
Congratulations Gail McHugh! You hit it out of the park! I'm excited and cannot wait for the follow up to Amber to Ashes, From the Storm. (less)
Wow, wow, wo!!!!!!!!
I didn't think Gail McHugh could top one of the Smexiest book boyfriends EVER created (Gavin Blake will go down in history as one of this generation's finest leading men), but she has, and she's done so x's TWO! Ryder Ashcroft and Brock Cunningham have given Gavin a run for his money!
Set against a college backdrop, Amber Moretti is a freshman with a dark past-one in which most people wouldn't survive. At least not without losing their sanity. Within seconds of walking into the dining hall, she meets tatooed, bad-boy Ryder and his best friend, All-American, captain of the football team, Brock. From that moment on, McHugh drops us face-first into a love triangle that makes all the rest that have come before them look like chicken feed.
Without spoiling too much, this story packs a wallop of tainted emotions, angst, lies, hurt, danger, and uncertainty as the plot slowly unravels, each page weakening your heart a little more to each beautifully flawed character. I won't lie, I was hesitant to purchase this because I figured McHugh had already hit us with a love triangle in Collide and Pulse. But after seeing way too many friends go on about how this was completely different from Collide and Pulse, I took a shot. Never looking back, I'm happy I did, the brilliant plotline in Amber to Ashes making the one in Collide and Pulse feel boring.
After finishing Amber to Ashes, not only was I left breathless, flat on my back, waiting for the second book, but I knew that there wasn't a book that McHugh puts out that I wouldn't stand in line to eagerly buy! From the Storm (the second and supposed final book in this series) can't come soon enough!
