Book 1, American Queen
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.
My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.
This is the story of an American Queen.
Absolutely amazing!! I couldn't stop reading! If you love Sierra's work you will not be disappointed!
Beautifully intense, thrilling and romantic!!
OMG! What did I just read?! American Queen is everything! It is beautifully written romance, true love, and seedy jealousy. It is political, a thriller of international intrigue. It is HOT, steamy, smutty, depraved and delicious.
"I want what I dreamed about ten years ago. I want to be dragged to the edge of shame and fear and darkness. I want to not recognize myself, and I want you to be the glorious, demanding beast that you are."
The players...President Maxen "Ash" Colchester, war hero, suave politician and domineering alpha. Handsome Embry Moore, his running mate, best friend who would do anything for Ash. Strong and independent Greer Galloway, beautiful granddaughter of a Vice President. Merlin, who more than once warns Greer to "Keep your kisses to yourself". Jealous Abilene, and scheming world leaders.
"Every cell in my body cries out for his presence, pines for the slightest brush of his hands or words or eyes."
I loved everything about this gorgeous book! I was captivated from the very first pages of the prologue to the jaw-dropping epilogue. I want more. I need more right now!
In Review: American Queen (American Queen Trilogy #1) by Sierra Simone
It’s been nearly two weeks since I finished this book and I still haven’t been able to compose myself enough to put together a review for it. But I guess it’s high time I stop putting it off and just get it over with. Here’s the Reader’s Digest version: It is amazing, one of my favorite books of 2016 and I just can’t recommend it highly enough*. (* to the right audience. It’s not for everyone.) Need more? Keep reading. I’ll keep it as spoiler free as possible, though if you read the blurb, you know where this story is headed. You just don’t know how exactly it’s going to get there.
Since I picked up Sierra Simone’s Priest, I’ve been borderline obsessed with her books. I fell in love with her writing. Her words are gorgeous. I find myself highlighting roughly half the book every time I pick up one of her books. I still need to conquer her backlist, but I’ve just not made time yet. My jaw literally dropped when I saw the cover and read the blurb for American Queen. I knew I had to have it. I read it cover to cover in one day, without barely pausing. What a book. Then I proceeded to recommend it to everyone I know will be able to handle it and will also enjoy it.
American Queen sucked me in from the prologue. The emotions Greer was feeling came through in every single word. It only took a couple of pages to take me from curious what this book would give to totally obsessed, having to know how they got to where they were at that moment. It was intense. Sierra’s writing, y’all. It does things to my heart. From the prologue we’re taken back in time to the first time Greer met Ash and the story takes off. And I couldn’t get enough of any part of it. As the connection between Ash, Greer and Embry became clear, it was easy to see where this book was headed. (I mean, it was in the blurb after all.) I was greedy for it. These characters were so well-suited and the sexual tension was palpable. This is the President and the Vice President. How can this work? Gah. I was all over the place. I still am. That’s what this book did to me.
I’m not going to get down into the plot of this one. There are enough twists and turns that I hate even telling you that much. Don’t look for spoilers for this one. Just go in blind. It’s the only way to do it. (And I say that as someone who frequently spoils books for herself. I’m glad I didn’t this time.) This is only the beginning of the story. There are two other parts to come. (And they can’t get here soon enough.)
While I wish I could say EVERYONE should read this book, I know it’s not for everyone. It’s SUPER DIRTY HOT. There’s M/F, M/M, M/M/F sexy times. It is literally jaw-droppingly hot. It was dirty, graphic, gritty. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before. (Except maybe Priest… but even that seems kinda tame compared to this.) The sex scenes are just a very minor part of the overall story, however. They’re not what had me so obsessed with this book. The story and the characters are. They were amazing. I still can’t get them out of my head… not that I want to, either. My emotions — and stomach, at times — were totally tied in knots as Greer, Ash and Embry work through their attraction, emotions and messiness of the past. It all just goes to show, no matter how powerful you might be in one respect, everyone is powerless against love.
Let’s be clear: there is a cliffhanger in American Queen. It’s a fairly brutal one, but it’s definitely not the worst I’ve seen. I have tons of questions. I’m worried about what will happen to these characters I’ve fallen in love with in the second book, American Prince. It won’t be released until March 2017 and I will be counting the days until I have it in my hands. I’m totally obsessed with this series and I have no problem admitting it. If you pick it up, I think you’ll feel the same. And I wish you luck with the BRUTAL book hangover that you’re sure to have. It’s been two weeks and mine has barely lessened at all. But it was totally worth it.
