Description

Margaret Simon, almost twelve, has just moved from New York City to the suburbs, and she’s anxious to fit in with her new friends. When she’s asked to join a secret club she jumps at the chance. But when the girls start talking about boys, bras, and getting their first periods, Margaret starts to wonder if she’s normal. There are some things about growing up that are hard for her to talk about, even with her friends. Lucky for Margaret, she’s got someone else to confide in . . . someone who always listens.

Publishers Weekly Review

Apr 01, 2001 – Judy Blume's body of work returns to her original editor, Richard Jackson, with the rerelease of four classics in hardcover. An African-American family moves to all-white Grove Street in Iggie's House, to be released in April. The author's breakthrough title, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, about 11-year old Margaret Simon's struggles with puberty and religion, is now available in hardcover as well as in a Spanish-language edition, Estas ahi Dios? Soy yo, Margaret. Two additional titles came out last season: Blubber takes on preteen teasing; and It's Not the End of the World explores the effects of divorce.

Customer Reviews

A treasure!

I adored this book when I was growing up and entering the awkward preteen years. I now have passed my copy onto my 12 year old daughter. I hope it does for her what it did for me when I was younger. I plan on giving it to my 7 year old in a few years as well. Such a great read. Absolutely worth every penny. Lead character addresses many issues all per teens face. Am I ever going to grow up? Am I growing in the right places etc.

Loved it!

My mom made me read this book. I thought it was going to be dreadful. But after I finished it, I loved it! It's a story about growing up and dealing with "girl problems". It's funny, cute, and overall a good read. Give it a chance (:
