An Arranged Marriage (The Company of Rogues Series, Book 1)
Book 1, The Company of Rogues Series
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Ruined through her vile brother's schemes, Eleanor Chivenham is offered rescue by marriage to a rake with an infamous French mistress. Eleanor accepts, determined to treat the arranged marriage with cool dignity.
Then she meets Nicholas Delaney. Not only does he stir her senses, but the trouble and pain beneath his smooth exterior reaches her heart.
Nicholas is indeed troubled. While serving his country by seducing secrets out of a French spy, he is persuaded to marry Eleanor to protect his family's honor. But such chivalry runs counter to his carefully wrought rogue image, and extends the life-threatening plots shadowing him to Eleanor.
To assist, Nicholas reassembles the Company of Rogues, a schoolboy group he started years before. But not even they can dampen Eleanor's fighting wit that is quickly unmasking their enemy and testing Nicholas' formidable will.

"A splendid love story... a veritable feast of delight. Bravo!" ~Romantic Times
Not worth the Xanax and blood pressure meds
This book is unequivocally the worst portrayal of human beings that I've ever read (and God knows I thought I'd read it all). This story begins with an over-the-hill spinster sister (at 22, O the horror; and yes I know that for the time period that was older, but biology hasn't changed that much! she was still young and lovely) living with her Marquis de Sade wannabe brother who schemes to have his sister RAPED and ruined to increase his fortune. AND HE SUCCEEDS, I've read the plot before but never has a writer allowed it to happen. The woman was raped in the first few pages, she then easily capitulates to a random guy off the street instead of running away (did I mention this guy looks like her rapist?). She has 2 brief nightmares that aren't really described in detail and is married off to her rapist's brother and enjoys a wedding night all very early in the novel. The last 300 pages consist of her being considerate and understanding as the whole of London comes to know her husband has a mistress that seems to be literally sucking the life out of him (yes I meant that crudely). Yes, all of this dirty business seems to be part of her husbands plan to catch a traitor so that NAPLOEON doesn't come to power (really? Just a bit more historical research would've been nice), but the WHOLE book is about him with the mistress and putting aside his wife. Ultimately the heroine is a freaking rag doll, the husband is an amazingly interesting and yet sensitive guy (you really do love the man), and the whole country seems to be hinged on him screwing his mistress into submission to find out a plot--and ultimately, the writer even discards this plot and makes the whole scheme even more damning. Seriously! The ONLY reason I gave this 2 stars is that the writing itself, and the dialogues, weren't cheesey or overwrought; however, this is NOT a romance, it's not something the author took any care to research historically, it's not plausible and overall it's not a lovely or interesting read on human nature as everyone in it, hero included, is disgusting.
An Arranged Marriage
An entertaining story, full of plot twists and a tender love story.
I enjoyed the glimpses do Regency life, food and clothing.
A page turner for sure!
The details of life in this time period that are woven into the stories make them come alive, and the characters are well-developed. I couldn't put it down, and am now starting the fourth book in this series.
