The beloved novel set at a Jane Austen fantasy resort, from New York Times-bestselling author Shannon Hale. Recently adapted into the romantic comedy film Austenland starring Keri Russell and Bret McKenzie and directed by Jerusha Hess.
Jane Hayes is a seemingly normal young New Yorker, but she has a secret: Her obsession with Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice is ruining her love life--no real man can compare. But when a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen fans, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become realer than she ever could have imagined.
Decked out in empire-waist gowns, Jane struggles to master Regency etiquette and flirts with gardeners and gentlemen-or maybe even, she suspects, with the actors who are playing them. It's all a game, Jane knows. And yet the longer she stays, the more her insecurities seem to fall away, and the more she wonders: Is she about to kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?

Fun, light read
I loved this book and I give or recommend it to friends all the time! It's like reading a chick flick. Great characters and a fun romp for anyone who loves Jane Austen. I'm looking forward to seeing it come to life on the big screen with the help of Stephenie Meyer and her new production company. Meyer and Hale. What a great match up!
Enjoyable and surprising! I enjoyed reading a short novel set in the 18oo's,alluding often to the works of Jane Austin, one of my favorite novelist as well.Jolly good and thanks Shannon!! I loved the sequel as well!!
Incredibly funny, extremely lovable.
First, if you love Jane Austen as much as I do, you’ll just LOVE this book to death.
However, for those people who just happen to know Austen’s Pride & Prejudice through movies and mini-series (or not at all), it’s a reading you’ll enjoy from beginning to end. It’s like watching a romantic comedy, but way more fun. I laughed, cried and screamed through all the pages because it’s so easy to relate to! Got surprised until the end :)
