Babycakes

Book 4, Tales of the City

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

"An extended love letter to a magical San Francisco."
--New York Times Book Review

When an ordinary househusband and his ambitious wife decide to start a family, they discover there's more to making a baby then meets the eye. Help arrives in the form of a grieving gay neighbor, a visiting monarch, and the dashing young lieutenant who defects from her yacht. Bittersweet and profoundly affecting, Babycakes was the first work of fiction to acknowledge the arrival of AIDS.

"Armistead is a true original. His tales are bang up-to-date. They will surprise and maybe even shock you, but, I promise, they will make you laugh."
--Ian McKellen

"Maupin has a genius for observation. His characters have the timing of vaudeville comics, flawed by human frailty and fueled by blind hop."
--Denver Post

"Armistead Maupin's San Francisco saga careens beautifully on."
-- New York Times Book Review

Baby cakes

Great continuation of an amazing series of stories! Unfortunately, there are numerous typos, including the spelling of the author's name in one area!

Too bad, because the typos detract from the otherwise excellent writing style of the book.

Great Story, Poor iBook

This story is as good as its predecessors. Well-written, a couple new and quite fun characters but the iBook suffers from so many typos that it should be removed until they're corrected. There are so many that they detract from the story and some aren't even words, such as "(he" instead of "the" so it's surprising it even got published in this format.

Typos!

Loved this as much as the previous Takes of The City books, but TONS of typos in this version - it was distracting!
