They say when you take revenge against another you lose a part of your innocence.
But I’m not innocent.
I haven’t been for a very long time.
My innocence was stolen from me. Taken was the life I was supposed to have. The soul I was born with. The ruby heart embedded in a life full of hopes and dreams.
I never even had a choice.
I mourn that life. Mourn the what-ifs.
I’m ready to take back what was always meant to be mine.
But every plan has a fatal flaw. Sometimes it’s the heart.
**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only.**
I actually want to give this ten stars, but it won't let me. This has to be the single hardest review I have ever written. This book is in a class all to itself. It was darker than ANY book I have ever read and, I'm not gonna lie, was difficult to read some parts because of its darkness. But it was all necessary to explain the complexity of the characters. I was completely glued and captivated by this book. I read Fading a few weeks ago and knew EK could write an amazing story but I had no idea. This one will stick with me for a very long time. I can't wait for more in this series.
Don't waste your money.
I can't believe I spent 99 cents on this. If you're looking for a happy story, you will NOT get it here. I thought it gets better in the middle and off to the end but nope. This starts off ok and then it goes downhill from there. Don't get me wrong I don't need to read books with happy endings only but this was too much for me. I've never written a review on a book before and have purchased many here but I couldn't not write one on this. I don't know how the person below me loved this book. You might be crazy to love this kind of madness and might need a psychologist after.
Couldn't put it down. Very well written; kept the suspense and my interest till the very end. The author puts you into the characters world of turmoil and heartache that you feel what she's feeling. Can't wait to read more!
