Publisher Description
"Baptism of Fire", recommended for all US veterans, is the story of a disenfranchised ex-patriot, Vito. He's an ex-Marine home from the Vietnam War, coping with post-traumatic stress in his own way, by using cocaine. he's busted for possession of a controlled substance and serving 5 years in Federal Prison.
It is also the story of the men Vito meets in prison, from the Catholic priest serving 30 years for protesting nuclear weapons at a parade, to the many other war veterans being warehoused in an effort to hide what they've become from public view. "Baptism of Fire" is a testament to the rise and fall of just another American Dream.
Customer Reviews
Poignant - Great Story!
An attention grabbing great read, so poignant and relevant to the problems facing veterans suffering from PTSD today. And in many cases how they are treated by the US Government with prison sentences. No one could read this story without sympathizing with Miele's anti-hero, Vito.
Pretty Good Read
Well written, though tragic story of how many Vietnam veterans were treated by the U.S. government after the war.
