Success can hide a multitude of secrets, but when Hollywood's "wunderkind" producer/director Shane Reynard agrees to set Cooper Lindstrom’s new TV sitcom in the Black Hills he knows he’s risking more than a boatload of money. Shane grew up in South Dakota. But he was a completely different person then. For good reason. The moment his path crosses into memory lane, he knows he's screwed. Jenna Murphy, the only girl he's ever loved, doesn't have a clue that the chance-of-a-lifetime job Shane's offering her is based on guilt. And the closer they get, the more Shane's got to lose when the truth comes out. Because once it does, there's a good chance Jenna will never want to see Shane again.
Jenna Murphy doesn't trust men easily. With valid reason. But Shane Reynard is different. The writer in her sees a tortured soul searching for redemption. She doesn't understand the reason behind Shane's generosity...until it's too late to keep from falling in love with him. Too bad neither love nor Shane's wealth can protect her from the past.
Black Hills Billionaire
This was a great book. I am hooked on Sentinel Pass and all of the interesting people that live there. Jenna is a great character, strong in spite of (or maybe because of) her damaged past. Shane was damaged by the same event in college as Jenna - indirectly - but Jenna doesn't remember him right away.
There were some great romantic parts, as Shane helps Jenna build some confidence in her writing skills. And the drama that unfolded later on in the book had me on the edge of my seat. This book had a great combination of romance, drama, and quirky characters that just fit together perfectly.
Second Chance At Love in the Black HIlls
Black Hills Billionaire by Debra Salonen is the second book in her Black Hills Rendezvous series. Shane Reynard, Hollywood’s producer/director, agrees to set Cooper Lindstrom’s new TV sitcom in the Black Hills. What Shane doesn’t admit is that he already knows one of the residents of Sentinel Pass, the location for the sitcom.
Jenna Murphy left college during her sophomore year, after a date rape that had gone bad. She found solace in journaling her thoughts in poems. She currently takes care of her hypochondriac mother and the visitor experience, The Mystery Spot, her late father created. She is surprised to encounter Shane, who she knew from both being in a college class.
Shane was impressed with her during college, losing his heart to her. Regrettably, he lives with the guilt of knowing who raped Jenna, his twin brother. Shane offers Jenna a chance to earn some badly needed money by helping him to write the script for the sitcom. Shane’s twin brother returns to destroy Jenna, setting into motion a number of unfortunate events to harm her. Love was not enough to save their relationship as Shane fears he too has those same evil genes of his twin. However, stubbornness could win the day.
I highly recommend this book to all readers. The characters were well written and complex. The plot was riveting and kept my attention to the very end.
