Overall Solid Addition to the Series
Break Your Heart is book 5 is the Bounty Bay Series.
It features Sam, playboy brother and Vee, childhood best friend of his sister and part owner of Bountiful. These two have grown up around each other, yet have not gotten together. When a business opportunity requires Sam to produce a serious girlfriend on the verge of engagement, he needs one fast. Vee's business would grow if she could move into the open retail space at Kauri Whare. But to do so, she would need to take Sam up on her offer.
I liked this novel, but it wasn't my favorite of the series. It took me a bit to get into it and I wasn't crazy about the entire fake family (serious girlfriend, kid and dog) all to impress a client and created more issues by not communicating with one and another.
I loved seeing the close knit family and community, Turbo was pretty funny, and honestly, while I was wasn't crazy about the premise, I like Sam and Vee together.
Overall a solid addition to the series.

Fake it till you make it
Single mom, Vanessa Mae Sullivan, known as Vee to all her friends, has her hands full making ends meet, helping to build up her business, and all the while trying to keep up with her daughter Ruby. So when Sam Ngata makes her an offer that would not only give her the retail space she so desperately wants, but also the muscle to relocate, redecorate, and waive the first 3 month’s rent; how could she refuse?
Sam Ngata, who owns Kauri Whare, is finalizing a contract with Gregory Wright, who owns a chain of hotels throughout Texas and the Midwest. No thanks to Sam’s brother, Isaac, Wright is under the mistaken impression that he is in a serious relationship. Sam has to produce a fiancé and convince Gregory’s eldest son and company lawyer, that he’s blissfully in love and soon to be married.
Tracey Alvarez weaves the most delicious stories. Her characters are fully developed, and each book is like a homecoming. Her turn of phrase has me laughing out loud. Break Your Heart, the fifth book in the Bounty Bay Series, is delightful. Ruby reminds me so much of my son, who will be two soon. I can so relate to all the struggles Vee goes through being a mom. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions and verbal banter/sparring between Vee and Sam. The fact that they have known each other so long, and the different phases of their friendship, adds so many facets to their relationship. It also reminds me the song Calender Girl by Neil Sedaka. This was a great read and I look forward to what comes next.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
I couldn’t put it down!
This amazing book 5 in the Bounty Bay series features Sam and Vee. Sam is a Ngata brother and delicious in his own right. He’s also a self-proclaimed bachelor, that for business purposes only, needs a serious, “fake”, live-in girlfriend and only Vee will do. Vee is a strong woman raising her two-year-old daughter on her own. You know when you’re kids and the boys tease the girls, not to be mean but because they really like them? Yeah, that’s what these two have been like since they were kids.
Each time I start a book by this author I am immediately transported to the little town where it all takes place. I am mesmerized and totally engrossed in the words, the characters and the romance. There is a specific section of this book when a car accident takes place and we are then shown the true sight and emotion of love. It was sad and beautiful at the same time and I cried. It felt so real. BRAVO Tracey Alvarez for making me feel more than just an awesome HEA.
