Calling the Play
Book 2, Birmingham Rebels - Birmingham Rebels
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Samantha Kane’s Birmingham Rebels series proves that three’s never a crowd . . . at least not for the hard-bodied football all-stars who give teamwork a sexy twist.
Quarterback Tyler Oakes plays hard and parties even harder. That reckless lifestyle nearly derailed his career, and now the Birmingham Rebels are Ty’s last shot at football immortality. But staying out of trouble can take its toll—especially for a man with a taste for girls and guys. Because curvy, gorgeous Randi McInish is just the kind of trouble he’d like to get into.
A tough-as-nails undercover cop, Randi meets her match in Ty. After they get wrapped up together in a drug bust and a high-speed car chase, Randi’s eager to take the notorious bad boy for another wild ride. Turns out Ty already has something in mind. When he introduces her to the Rebels’ sexy new quarterback coach, things start heating up a little too fast for Randi.
Brian Mason coached Ty in college, and boy do they have history together. With Brian taking control on the field and in the bedroom, they were an unstoppable team. But Brian, blindsided by love, ran from his feelings for Ty. He won’t let Randi make the same mistake. Both men agree they need more than each other. They want a woman they can share. And when they make a pleasure play for Randi, all three are sure to score.

Playing can be fun
This is the 2nd book in the Birmingham Rebels series. As always, I recommend to the reader that you read the books in the order intended. That being said, this is a book that can be read as a standalone if you choose.
Tyler Oakes and Brian Mason makes beautiful football together. They did back in college and Tyler played one mean game. Now, Brian is back and a part of the Rebels coach staff. Can they ignore what is so strong between them?
To make is more complex, there is the incredible Randi McInish. Tough cop, tough sister, hot woman, and all around sexy gal who likes them both. Together or apart. Randi wants to stand on her own two feet, however, and guys that want to "take care of her" are usually thrown out.
All three of them together make beautiful music. In order to save Ty's career and the oddball relationships he has started, Ty is trying to decide whether to keep or let them both go. Ty always feel like he is 2nd best, and he is waiting for his chance at real love.
This book was a surprise for me. I never expected to feel so torn about which way I wanted the characters I was reading to go! I was pleasantly spooked toward the end there and very happy with how the HEA was resolved.

Sweet and Sexy!!!
Oh Lordy, but it does get hot in Birmingham! After reading Broken Play, I was so excited to read this next book in the series... and I was soooo not disappointed! I loved Ty’s character from the first book, so I was extremely interested to see his character expanded upon in this book. This author truly does have a gift with characterization. The characters of Ty, Brian, and Randi were really quite well developed and I became invested in their story line very easily and very quickly. The evolution of their relationship was truly a joy to read. I also loved catching up with some of the other characters from the first book such as Cass, Beau, Marian, Danny, and Tom. I would love to see more from Tom and Danny in the future. They are hilarious together! I also love the general camaraderie the players have developed. It’s beyond entertaining! Overall, I found the book to be compelling, sensual, intriguing, engaging, absorbing, amusing, and, of course, HOT! I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweetly entertaining and very sexy read.

This is one HOT and DIRTY book; I loved it!!
Warning – this book contains lots of f-bombs and other strong language as well as hot, sexy m/m and m/m/f encounters. If any of this offends you don’t read this book and then leave a negative review.
OK, the above warning was for people who may not have read any of Samantha Kane’s books before and also because I hate it when readers pick up a book and then leave a negative review because it contains things they find objectionable.
Personally, I love ALL of Samantha Kane’s books. I’m most familiar with her Brothers in Arms series set in the Regency period but I’m so glad that she’s started this new contemporary series; I might even learn to like football as a result. lol
Tyler Oakes (Ty) identifies himself as bi-sexual but he hasn’t been with anyone in a long time. He goes looking for some action at the Kitty Licks bar and gets more than he bargained for when he walks into the middle of a drug bust. Captivated by the smart-alecky, dirty talking, undercover cop, Randi McInish, he wants to see more of her.
Randi doesn’t do relationships and when Brian, a man from Ty’s past, shows up she decides she needs to bow out and let those two figure things out. What Randi doesn’t realize is that Brian and Ty don’t feel complete without her.
While this book is the second in the Birmingham Rebels series it can be enjoyed without reading the first book (but it’s great, too, so you should read it). This story probably has the coarsest language, or maybe just a bit more of it, than Ms. Kane’s other books but it totally fits the characters in the story. I love the way she connects the first book to this one and yet also tells a story that completely stands alone; I doubt that this is an easy thing to do. There is a whole football team of interesting characters and I hope a book is written for each one of them!
