There is a common assumption that the Bible is “full” of errors and contradictions, and that its often-unusual people and events render it useless for today. These ideas are fueled by the teachings of scholarly critics, who seem to delight in raising questions about the Bible’s truthfulness and integrity. But the critics of the Bible are wrong, according to Dr. R. C. Sproul in this Crucial Questions booklet. In fact, he says, there are many solid reasons to trust the Bible. With Jesus, with the apostles and prophets, and with men of God throughout church history, Dr. Sproul affirms a high view of Scripture—that it is inspired of God and therefore inerrant and infallible.
This book has greatly helped me understand the authority, infallibility, and inerrancy of scripture. Many Christians read, teach, and act realizing the authority that scripture carries but never ask themselves why the bible is this way. This book gives you those answers.
This book has the wrong title
This book doesn't answer the question "can I trust the Bible?" It explains the doctrine of inerrancy but doesn't give any reason to believe it in the first place other than "because the bible says so" (in 2 Timothy 3:16). That is the definition of a circular argument. A better title for the book would be "what is the doctrine of inerrancy?" In that case this book would've been a 5-star.
Good and Bad at the Same Time
Good explanation and commentary on the Chicago Statement, that allows even the believers without theological education could understand. However, if you are reading this book to get the back-up of Bible Inerrancy in terms of Empirical Scientism, don't; it doesn't explain in that way.
