Definitely not an ad for the Amen clinic
Clearly those who think this is a clinic/drug pushing book have not read the entire book. Dr Amen gives medication options only because in some cases it is necessary for proper brain function. However, he is very persuasive on his arguments for alternative treatment such as proper nutrition, dietary supplements, and exercise. In fact he gives evidence to exercise actually being more effective in treating depression than zoloft (which by the way he calls a very good anti depressant)
Please read this entire book before you rate it. Dr Amen's books are an invaluable resource for anyone who desires better brain function. As an ADD sufferer I am forever grateful for the encouraging information provided in his books and the research done in his clinic.
This book change my life around
Excellent book looking into the inner workings of the brain and how our actions and thoughts effect our mood and motivation. Offers numerous alternatives to pharmaceuticals and although Dr. Amen also encourages the use of pharmaceuticals when necessary, he focuses also on the natural non-drug methods to help. This book along with The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg are my two favorite self improvement books.
