Christmas at Twilight

Twilight, Texas - A Twilight, Texas Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

It's Christmas in Twilight, Texas. The Cookie Club is baking, the town is decorated, and Delta Force Operator "Hutch" Hutchinson has finally, reluctantly, returned home . . .

. . . only to get pepper sprayed by the delicious- looking stranger who's taken over his house. She says her name is Jane, and she immediately sets down ground rules. Top priority: no touching. For Hutch that isn't easy—he was wounded in action, but one part is still working very well.

Then Hutch learns the truth. Jane harbors a frightening secret—she's really Meredith Sommers, on the run from a dangerous ex-husband and desperately in need of the safety Hutch can provide. In that moment, he vows he'd do anything in his power to protect her. And as Christmas approaches, they discover that their love can conquer the past and overcome any obstacle—but what price will they pay?

From Publishers Weekly

Sep 01, 2014 – Injured Army Captain Brian Hutchinson comes home to Twilight, Tex., for Christmas. Discharged because of PTSD and his refusal to speak, Hutch just wants to be left alone with his anger. Unfortunately his flaky sister, Ashley, sublet his house to quiet Jane Brown, and when he walks in, Jane pepper-sprays him. When Ashley hops over to Mexico with a new flame and leaves her daughter behind, Jane helps him take care of the little girl and gradually begin to heal his physical and psychological wounds. Hutch is not the only one with baggage: "Jane" is actually a woman named Meredith who's on the run from an abusive husband and hoping to set down roots with Twilight's welcoming folks. Wilde heaps almost too many troubles on Meredith and Hutch, but they wade through it all and build a new family in this heartwarming Christmas romance.

Customer Reviews

Delta Force Operator, Captain Brian "Hutch" Hutchinson, was injured during an op and lost all five members of his team. He lost a finger and had taken shrapnel to the throat. He couldn't talk but the Army could find no medical reason why. They said he was showing signs of Borderline Personality Disorder, which is the same as his mother had. They Honorably Discharged him, so he went home to Twilight, Texas. When he arrived at his house, he found out that his sister had run off with her current boyfriend and that she had rented a bedroom to a woman and her son. Also, his sister left her little girl with the renter. Meredith, the renter, and Hutch agreed to free rent in exchange for her helping with his niece, Kimmy. Hutch still can't talk and he suffers from PTSD. Meredith is running from a past she fears has caught up with her. They desperately need each other and the kids need them too.

I can't tell you enough how much I loved this story. Hutch is the wounded warrior that is such an alpha man with feelings that run deep. Meredith is a good mother that's only trying to keep her son safe. The kids are adorable and the way the author wrote the way they spoke, really put their age into perspective. The sense of family in Twilight is tremendous. Everyone knows everyone and they all watch out for each other. I really enjoyed this story about two people with kids, finding that one person who could help them heal. Thank you Lori Wilde for this feel good Christmas story.
