I read the book and was very impressed. Dr. Junger does a great job at discussing why and how he came up with the clean program. I have had trouble with weight, having failed Jenny Craig and Nutri System due to their limits and severe calorie restrictions. I constantly regained the weight after losing almost all of it, and had 80 pounds to lose when I started reading Clean. I was looking for healthy and, more importantly, NO calorie counting. This program is all about eating healthy, staying away from processed foods and preservatives. I followed his elimination plan (not Detox) which allows one to eat the thousands of allowable foods in solid form. I did it for 6 weeks and lost 20 pounds. My exercise was very mild, as I started with 20 minutes of slow walking per day for 6 weeks. I started the Detox a few days ago and am finding it easier than described due to having eaten healthy for 6 weeks. This is the perfect program for those that really want to heal from within and be done away with the word "diet' for good. You can be on this program just for feeling better with more energy OR add weight loss to it.... I love this program and have found my answer to permanent health. Seriously, this program has changed my life in a short period of time.. I am looking forward to long term results!
A logical book about western nutrition
I really enjoyed reading this book. I disdain most fad type diets as they are just that, fads. However I found Clean very enlightening about the differences in our modern western diets. I'm half way through my first detox cleanse and I feel great!
I felt really good while doing the program when it did it a few years ago. Also shed some weight. Best thing Is that my energy improved and I didn’t feel like I was starving. If I recall the first day was a little challenging. I am starting to do it again- recipes in the back are very tasty.
FYI I also take some supplements- haven’t ever bought the products Junger sells.
