Cole Shoot: Book #5 (2018 Edition)

Book 5, The Cole Sage Mystery Series - The Cole Sage Mystery Series

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Where does justice end and vengeance begin?

Once again, Cole Sage wanders into foreign territory. The world of the Tongs and San Francisco Street Gangs is deadly turf. Seeking answers that will bring justice for the murder of his friend, Cole unknowingly endangers the life of his intern and protégé.

Believing the saying "it is never a good idea to bring a knife to a gun fight", Cole enlists the help of L.A. gang members to bring truth and justice to the streets of his newly adopted city.

This strategy brings conflict and turmoil to Cole's soul but seems the best solution for the challenges being faced.

Micheal Maxwell has found a niche in the mystery genre with The Cole Sage Series that departs from the usual, heavily sexual, profanity laced norm, and gives readers a character driven stories, with twists, turns, and page turning plot lines, but most of all a hero they can relate to and root for with each new case he finds himself involved in.

The Cole Sage Mystery Series started with Diamonds and Cole. Why not read them all?

Interview with the Author
Q: So, our friend Cole Sage is back!
A: Yes he is, and as usual, he finds himself in a bit of a jam.
Q: Without giving anything way, what’s Cole up to this time?
A: He tangles with a street gang. A peaceful day out for Cole and Kelly is shattered by gang violence and, sadly, it hits close to home.
Q: What makes this book, #5, in the series different?
A: The fun thing about Cole Shoot is we’re re-visited by some old friends from previous books. This book is kind of a “rite of passage” for Cole. He takes a long, hard look at the future, career, and his relationship with Kelly Mitchell. We also meet California Corwin, a female detective that D. D. Vandyke has spun off into a whole new series.
Q: A serving of romance with our mystery and suspense?
A: What is life without a little romantic suspense to spice things up?
Q: For people who haven’t read the previous Cole Sage Mysteries, can they read Cole Shoot and not get lost?
A: Of course, all the books stand alone. But if anyone hasn’t read Diamonds and Cole, it is available free. I hope everyone grabs a copy. It’s always nice to see where the hero of a series came from.
Q: So what’s next for Mr. Sage?
A: Diamonds and Cole has now been downloaded over 200,000 times. It is repeatedly in the Top Ten of Private Investigator books! Thank you all very, very much! The next book Cole Fire is well on its way and is a lot longer than I imagined it to be. A BIG surprise is coming in that one!
Q: So what would you like to say to your fans?
A: I hope this new volume in the Cole Sage saga takes care of their Cole fix! I would really like to thank everyone who has left reviews of my books. The people who love Cole Sage are the best advertising I can get. Reviews are vitally important for independent authors, as stars and number of reviews are the first thing people look for when choosing a new book. So, don’t forget your reviews matter, they keep Cole coming back.
Q: I love the cover of Cole Shoot. Good luck on Cole Fire. When can we look for that one to come out?
A: In the future! lol

Once Again Michael Maxwell Hits Another Home Run Over The Fence

At the start of this book Cole and his girlfriend Kelly Mitchell go to the Chinese New Year’s Parade and find themselves in the middle of the shootout of two rival gangs. This shootout hits close to home for Cole, as his friend Chris Ramos is killed in the violence. Cole sets upon the task of investigating the shootings for his newspaper, The Chronicle. He is aided by Anthony Perez , the young man he saved from Southern California gang life. Who has now finished collage and is going to internship with him in pursuit of his Masters in Journalism . Cole sends Anthony into Chinatown to gather background information for the article. Through Anthony’s eyes we get a look at gang violence and the street culture of urban California. While asking questions, Anthony gets taken prisoner by one of the gangs, The Fire Cracker Boyz.

This puts Cole in a moral dilemma. In order to save his friend and protégé. He must make decisions that are tough and skirt on the edge of his moral convictions. How far over the line is he willing to go in order to save his friend ? Will Cole find, he has gone too far in trying to help this time ? Will he feel that once he opens a Pandora’s Box of violence , that he has a hard time living with the results.

In this book we are also introduced to two new women. Hannah Day, his new feisty secretary/personal assistant, who can give back , as good as she gets from Cole. I sincerely hope she stays around for more books. We also meet Private Investigator , California Corwin. Who crosses paths with Cole, as she seeks his help finding two runaway Down Syndrome kids. It was inspiring to see the way Mike Maxwell deals with people with special needs and with their relationships in general. I am patently waiting for the sixth book to come out, to feed my Cole Sage addiction.

Love Cole & this series!!!

A Good read, with intriguing characters from all walks of life! It was sad to lose Chris though... He added some Sass & was such a vibrant character! Thank You for the Cole Sage saga!!! So Enjoyable!

I really like your stories. The characters pulled me in from book one. Intriguing plot twists. I have only one problem with your books. Someone needs to proofread them. Words are missing in sentences, and spell check doesn't understand homonyms. I'm looking forward to more about Cole Sage and his family.
