From New York Times Bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new standalone book. Just how hot will firefighter Grady Malone turn up the heat?
Songwriter Dylan McCoy has been burned.
By her boyfriend she found in her bed . . . with someone else.
By the contract she signed that obligates her to work with him until the songs for his new album are complete.
By her agent when she asked Dylan to keep their breakup on the down-low.
When she finds herself in Sunnyville, she refuses to let her new roommate burn her too. Still . . . a rebound has never looked so good.
That’s her first thought when she sees firefighter Grady Malone. Sexy. Charismatic. Unapologetic. He’s a man who carries his own scars—the ones on his back, the survivor’s guilt on his soul, and the fear in his heart.
When an unexpected visitor puts their roommate status to the test, will their undeniable attraction burn out, or will they both take a chance and play with fire?
Sparks ignite between Grady & Dylan
Combust is book 2 in the Everyday heroes trilogy By K Bromberg. The series is centered around the Malone brothers, this book being Grady and Dylan's story.
I absolutely loved Cuffed, the first book in this series, and it's no different with this one. I absolutely adored Grady in this story. He's sweet, and sexy and a man who's dedicated his life being a firefighter, something he lives and breathes. He's a son, a brother, a best friend, and a surrogate father to his best friends son. He is an everyday hero, but this hero has a past that he's running from, and scars that not only can be seen on the outside, but are deeply rooted on the inside, coming to life in his nightmares. Grady knows he'll never let any woman get to close, he's seen first hand what the life of a firefighter does to a family.
Dylan McCoy, what a breath of fresh air she was! Thank you Kristy for giving us this beautifully written character. She's beautiful, sweet, and coping with insecurities that are constantly questioning her own self worth. Dylan is reeling from finding her rocker boyfriend in bed with a another woman. She decides she needs to get out of LA for awhile, and goes to visit her brother, who just happens to have a friend with an empty room if she wants it. Needing to escape, she jumps at the chance to get out of town and heads to Sunnyville!! She'll soon realize Grady will be her roommate!!
This story is really for me a friends to lovers story. Grady and Dylan fall into an easy friendship, talking, hanging out going to the farmers market and taking care of Petunia the pig!! But early on Dylan realizes Grady is haunted by something, revealing itself in his nightmares. Trying all she can do to help, he wants to left alone and not deal with it. Enter into the picture Jett, the bad boy rocker, and ex boyfriend who comes to Sunnyville to stake his claim on Dylan, and bring her back to LA!! She tries to get him to leave Grady's home but to no avail. After Grady walks in on the two of them, Dylan decides this is her chance to get rid of Jett, and plants a kiss on Grady that he won't soon forget!!! From that moment on the sparks are ignited between these friends, and nothing will ever be the same between them. I loved how they truly showed, that each others insecurities and scares should not define who they are. Dylan finds herself falling for Grady, but knows there's only hurt to come, because she knows for him this will be over soon. Grady himself is falling for Dylan, but he has his walls up, and knows he can't ask her to stay. Will he be able to work thru this turmoil, and go after this amazing young woman???
I loved all the secondary characters, especially Brody and his relationship with Grady, and the entire Malone family.
A phenomenal read!!
This book was everything!!! It had me cracking up at some parts, and sobbing in others. K. Bromberg has a way of putting you right in the story, making you feel the triumphs and heartbreak each character feels in this book.
Both Dylan and Grady have demons they are trying to overcome, and with each other they begin to do that. Dylan didn’t start off as a heroine I would normally like. She was just a little too insecure for me, but over time she grew on me. Grady is one of my favorite heroes. He’s got this vulnerable side that makes you want to just cuddle him, but keeps it pretty locked up, so only those closest to him truly know his pain. Seeing these two start to heal and find their happily ever after was a fun ride, and I can’t wait to get the next story in this series.
This is definitely a must read!!!
Ahhhh! This one packed all the feels! I fell head over heels for Grady Malone-SWOON! This story was beautiful, feely and so swoony!
