The high price of perfection is one 'Perfect' Parker Fadley always believed she was willing to pay until the events of a party during junior year fractures the lives of her family and friends. Something terrible has happened and only Parker knows it's her fault. If being a perfect daughter, student, friend and girlfriend couldn't keep her from making an unforgivable mistake, Parker hopes becoming a perfect mess will at least keep her loved ones from discovering the truth. But when the arrival of a curious new student and the unexpected return of an old enemy threaten her tenuous grip on control, Parker must decide just how far she'll go to keep her secret from surfacing.

Cracked up to be

The writing was great ... The story wasn't. The opening was never fully explained, only parts of it. The ending left you wanting more explanation. It was an okay quick read. The author has a positive career ahead of her.

Blegh

I was really surprised by all the positive reviews of this. I've been reading tons of young adult this summer and this one really fell below my expectations. There were certain things the author was doing with her writing that just held me back. Parker was too unlikable as a protagonist. I would have liked to seen more character depth than a huge ball of angst. It drove me crazy how often Parker's name, along with many other characters' names, was used in dialogue. I don't use a person's name when talking to them a million times. The ending felt too resolute. The usage of present tense to tell a flashback also didn't work to help the novel. If there is a sequel, I would probably not be reading it.
