Danielle Walker's Against All Grain Celebrations

A Year of Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Paleo Recipes for Every Occasion

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

This New York Times bestselling cookbook from Danielle Walker presents 125 recipes for grain-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free comfort food dishes for holidays and special occasions.
When people adopt a new diet for health or personal reasons, they worry most about the parties, holidays, and events with strong food traditions, fearing their fond memories will be lost along with the newly eliminated food groups. After suffering for years with a debilitating autoimmune disease and missing many of these special occasions herself, Danielle Walker has revived the joy that cooking for holidays can bring in Danielle Walker's Against All Grain Celebrations, a collection of recipes and menus for twelve special occasions throughout the year.
Featuring a variety of birthday cakes, finger foods to serve at a baby or bridal shower, and re-creations of backyard barbecue standards like peach cobbler and corn bread, Danielle includes all of the classics. There’s a full Thanksgiving spread—complete with turkey and stuffing, creamy green bean casserole, and pies—and menus for Christmas dinner; a New Year's Eve cocktail party and Easter brunch are covered, along with suggestions for beverages and cocktails and the all-important desserts. Recipes can be mixed and matched among the various occasions, and many of the dishes are simple enough for everyday cooking. Stunning full-color photographs of every dish make browsing the pages as delightful as cooking the recipes, and beautiful party images provide approachable and creative entertaining ideas.
Making recipes using unfamiliar ingredients can cause anxiety, and while trying a new menu on a regular weeknight leaves some room for error, the meal simply cannot fail when you have a table full of guests celebrating a special occasion. Danielle has transformed her most cherished family traditions into trustworthy recipes you can feel confident serving, whether you’re hosting a special guest with food allergies, or cooking for a crowd of regular grain-eaters.

From Publishers Weekly

Aug 15, 2016 – Walker (Against All Grain), whose need for dietary restrictions led to a personal culinary journey, refashions celebratory dishes for 12 yearly occasions. In 125 recipes, Walker show cooks how to prepare holiday favorites while meeting paleo-style requirements, transforming them into something as treasured as any traditional dish. The year of special event party menus begins with all-night New Year's Eve nibbles such as maple-chili-glazed shrimp wrapped in prosciutto and a cranberry-festooned red wine gimlet cocktail. The "Game Day" section serves up gluten- and dairy-free Buffalo wings and cauliflower bites, green chile chicken soup, and football-shaped whoopie pies. There's a romantic dinner for two of short ribs braised in cabernet and kid-friendly heart-shaped treats for Valentine's Day. An Easter brunch features leg of lamb with lavender-rosemary bouquet, asparagus prosciutto tart, and honey- and blood orange glazed ham. Mother's and Father's Day, baby and bridal showers, birthday parties, Halloween,Thanksgiving, and Christmas menus present classic dishes, modified but still full of flavor. Walker provides a special diet index, glossary of ingredients and substitutions, and paleo basics (sauces, pastry, stocks, and dressings) with "tidbits" on storage and uses.

Best Paleo Recipes

First off, she is so personably whether she is writing her blog or cookbook, she is always talking to you as a friend. Second, her recipes are the bomb and you can ALWAYS trust them for any occasion even if it's the first time.
And lastly your should do your self a favor and buy everyone you know one !

Against all grain Celebrations

Her books are beautifully done and wonderful recipies with great photos...with that being said I have to say it drives me crazy when you have a nice cookbook that obviously the person spent a lot of time doing AND then to NOT include the macros for each recipe. I swore I would not buy another cookbook without, however when looking at the "previews" they don't always show an actual recipe so then your stuck trying to decide weather to send it back....I've decided to keep this one but that's it unless I can see a whole recipe in a book

Amazing recipes for every major occasion

Danielle Walker's latest book is full of great tasting recepies and beautiful photos. For those who are new to the gluten-free, Paleo, grain and dairy free diets, you will be very pleased with this cookbook. From buffalo wings for football season, to carrot cake for Easter, these recipes are sure to satisfy food lovers of all ages. Danielle's recipes are arranged by occasion. There is also a very handy index at the end of the book which allows you to look up recipes by their name or specific ingredient. The book also includes helpful tips for those new to the gluten-free, Paleo, or grain free lifestyle. It includes handy measurement conversion charts, ingredient resources and tips on hosting any occasion with ease and confidence. Cooking and baking from Danielle's newest book has been great! My family and friends who have enjoyed the recent recipes raved about how great they taste and I did not even need to specify that they were gluten-free or Paleo. Danielle does a wonderful job of re-creating holiday recipes for all to enjoy. They are delicious and have wholesome ingredients. So once you get your hands on this book get to cooking and happy eating!
