Essence bestselling author RM Johnson returns with the hotly anticipated follow-up to Million Dollar Demise.

This electrifying novel features the Million Dollar characters fans have grown to love coming face-to-face with members of the Harris family, the unforgettable characters of Johnson’s other bestselling series. It’s his most dramatic—and passionate—installment yet.

When Nate Kenny convinces Daphanie Coleman to sign over custody of her newborn baby to the father, his ex-wife Monica vows to help the young woman. But Monica is still recovering from a gunshot to the head that put her in a coma. Daphanie hires Austin Harris to help win her baby back, but divorced and lonely, Austin falls for Monica and tries to pull her into a relationship—one she is reluctant to start.

Meanwhile, Caleb Harris, Austin’s brother, must pay back a loan shark to save his family from home eviction. But debt isn’t his only problem—his son has fallen deeper and deeper into crime. And as Daphanie struggles to win back her child, she must decide whether or not she will live by the rules of a man she despises in order to stay in her child’s life.

Deceit and Devotion is a gripping story of passion and revenge, and a tapestry of family, love and loyalty that must not be missed.

From Publishers Weekly

Jan 16, 2012 – There s no end to the mischief in this fourth installment of Johnson s popular Million Dollar series, a revved-up revenge plot set in an urban jungle where aching poverty and fabulous wealth are stuck in a ruthlessly complicated life-and-death dance. Lucky-in-business-and-lousy-at-love Monica is haunted by a shooting that put her in a coma for weeks; savvy survivor Lewis, who hopes to help a teen stuck in poverty and crime, as he once was; soulless gunman Freddy, getting back at his enemies even from behind bars; and demonic conniver Nate, who stops at nothing to punish anyone who deceives him, even if it means destroying a mother-son bond. There s also the return of the brothers who marked Johnson s compelling 1999 debut, The Harris Men: Caleb, trying to reconcile his past and win back a son who seems doomed to make the same mistakes as his long-missing father; respectable lawyer Austin; and out-of-work artistic Marcus. The cast is too crowded for anyone but devoted fans to appreciate, but Johnson s breathtaking pace pulls you along in this gritty soap opera, and a poignant theme of children growing up in broken families resonates. A chilling, abrupt ending points to another sequel sure to thrill Johnson devotees.

Intriguing and a Page Turner

I could NOT put this book down!!!! RM Johnson does it again! I can't wait to see what's next for The Harris Brothers, Monica Rogers, Nate Kenny and Lewis. The twists and turns are amazingly written and I felt myself being in Chicago with the characters. RM we need the next installment to the series.
