Deformers come in many forms, shapes, and sizes. They can be useful in modeling, rigging, and animation. However, Maya's help files have never been very good at explaining how to use them or when they might come in handy. In this and every edition of "Theories And The Practice of Rigging," provides that which is sorely lacking in Maya's help and in the lessons of many institutions of higher learning. Briefly, but specifically detailing Maya's deformation tools, "Deformers and Influence" outlines where and how to use key elements of Maya for the generation of virtual assets. Video and textual demonstrations and explanations detail tools and some ways of using deformers.
