Denis Leary's Merry F#%$in' Christmas

For everyone who loves the holidays - and those of us who can't wait until they're over - Denis Leary has a special gift this season: Merry F***in' Christmas. This adult parody of a children's book, in the vein of Go The F**k To Sleep, takes aim at bad presents, drunk Santas, boring relatives, ugly sweaters, greedy kids and all the other things that make December such a pain in the ass. Just like he did in The Ref - the cult classic Christmas film that skewers dysfunctional families - Denis will have you laughing out loud about just how unhappy the holidays can be.
Publisher’s Note: The enhanced e-book features original extra content including author commentary, video, narration, hidden pop-ups and musical treats which make for a unique experience you can’t get in stores. A portion of any profits the author earns from the sale of this e-book will be donated to The Leary Firefighters Foundation.
Very funny interactive book from the minds of Denis Leary and Chris Phillips. For mature audiences! Graphics are sharp and the songs and sfx are very entertaining. Well worth $10. Finding the hidden easter eggs is half the fun.
This book is tasteless and full of puerile humor. But, as my wife says, "It's Denis Leary, what did you expect?" And she's right.
It really is tasteless. But it's also amazingly well put together, with detailed claymation sets, embedded songs and videos, self-reading text, and is overall quite a parody of those claymation Christmas specials.
Maybe this is not really the promise of e-books, but it sure does leverage some of their strengths in unexpected ways.
And for that, I give it five stars. Tasteless, but worth it even if it's not really your thing. Even if the profits weren't going to support firemen. But they are, and maybe that's in the very best spirit of Christmas.
Nice job guys.
Fun twisted holiday book
I was not a Leary fan, I am now. I love this book, I laughed for awhile looking closely at the pictures and the funny made up toys. New holiday tradition this book will be. :)
