This unusual fictional account, in good part autobiographical, narrates without self-pity and often with humor the adventures of a penniless British writer among the down-and-out of two great cities. In the tales of both cities we learn some sobering Orwellian truths about poverty and society.
Ok not great
Not bad but the storyline wasn't very interesting at some points it seems more like a diary explaining poverty than anything else and Orwell evens notes this at the end of the book
As Orwell's first book, it is fantastic. A great read about real life in a poverty state in Paris and London in the early 20th century. A must read, at least in my mind.
A revealing, humanistic novel. I read the whole thing in one day, couldn't put it down.
