Down with Love

Book 1, Laws of Attraction - A Laws of Attraction Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Sparks fly when the hot-shot divorce lawyer meets the high-powered wedding planner. The only question is, what kind?
If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions. . . .
1. Pre-nups are your friend.
2. The person you married is not the person you’re divorcing.
3. And I hope you didn’t spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn’t it?
But some guys are willing to take a chance. Like my brother, who thinks he’s going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner—the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces—is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity.
The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We’re both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game—and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I’m thinking I might just want to get played.

From Publishers Weekly

Jun 25, 2018 – Lovingly rendered present-day Chicago is almost a character in its own right in Meader's slightly messy series launch. Max Henderson, a high-powered divorce attorney, literally collides with his brother's wedding planner, Charlie Love. He's instantly smitten, but Charlie dismisses Max outright despite her own lust for him. Later they bond over a love of Hitchcock films, a disdain for asparagus, and anger over bad calls at a Cubs game. When they fall into bed, Charlie is adamant that it's just a fling, while Max is surprised to find he's interested in romance. When he realizes Charlie has rewritten his position on love, he becomes determined to convince her that he's the one for her. The couple's reservations against declaring their feelings are occasionally excessive, but the repartee, vivid sex scenes, and tongue-in-cheek approach to romance tropes make Max and Charlie's journey worth following.

Opposites attract

A fun opposites attract and a bit of an enemies to lover story. You can't get more opposite than a divorce lawyer and a wedding planner.

The spark these two had was instant. The fact that they are on opposite sides of the love rainbow couldn't keep them apart. Their banter was fun but on the edge. Max is a cynic. How can he not be as a divorce lawyer. Add in his own personal experience of love turned wrong and he's what you would expect.

Despite being a wedding planner and seeing the better side of relationships, Charlie struggles with her own self image and the results of her own bad break up. It doesn't stop her from wanting the elusive successful marriage. She just isn't sure if she can find a man who can handle that damaged side of herself.

Deep down both characters had emotional issues going on underneath the surface. I always think it's a thing of beauty when you see a couple bring out the best in each other. To love one another just as much because of their flaws as their perfection.

This was a feel good story that brings a bit more emotion than you expect to the surface. Great read! ARC provided by NetGalley.

Sexy, Snarky, Fun & Seductive!

I always find it amazing how Kate Meader tells a story, once I start reading I am completely lost to it. How it is always fresh and engaging, sexy and fun. There are these great characters, great moments, and great connections. She’s truly a fantastic story teller.
So I loved this, Charlie Love was full of personality and charm, I couldn’t get enough. I love a feisty woman who stands up for herself. Max Henderson was great also, trying to protect his brother from possible heartbreak, being the cynic but with a kiss, opens his heart.
One of my favorite things is animosity between characters because it explodes into electric chemistry. This was off the charts! I love when characters give good fight. It was fun, snarky, and sexy, I could feel the want and need between these two. There was this passionate connection that created so much heat. Hot, Hot, Hot, So awesome.
There were so many funny parts in this. I burst out laughing at times. There was a great balance of entertaining, sexy, and emotion throughout. I can’t wait for the next one in this series. Get your copy now!

Wonderful start to a new series!

4.5 Hearts

Down with Love is the first book in the Laws of Attraction series. I was so excited when I saw that Kate was starting a new series. I am loving her Chicago Rebels series so I knew I had to get my hands on this book. I just love meeting new characters. Starting at the beginning of a series and following it until the end. The synopsis kicka- so I will make this quick 😉 <if you follow my reviews then you know this most likely won’t happen.

Max is a divorce attorney. Charlie is a wedding planner. He doesn’t do commitments. She is looking for one. He sees the ugly at the end of marriage. She sees the beauty in the beginning of one.

Max was warned. His brother told him she was not his type but he loved a challenge. He had no idea what he was getting himself into but he wanted her from the moment he saw her. And when she opened her was over. He was f- and he knew it. She was witty, beautiful, and didn’t want anything to do with him. That’s what she wanted him to believe anyway. Yes. He felt the hate. He also saw the lust in her eyes. He not only wanted her in his bed but she intrigued him. He wanted to know more about this woman. But, how could this playboy convince her to give him a chance?

Aw! I loved it. Max is such a smooth-talking cocksure man. He is also sweet, funny, and smart. He also has a clumsy side. It’s really an amazing blend. He cracked me up. He definitely has a way with words. Charlie enjoys his words as well. His sweet ones. His filthy ones. His arrogant ones. Especially when she got to throw her own back at him. Which is one of the reasons why I loved her. She knows how to put him in his place. She also knows what she wants and doesn’t need. She also knows what she deserves. Together, these two are hilarious, sexy, beautiful, and a bit crazy.’s a wonderful start to a new series! I do love my lawyers and this group is so much fun! I can’t wait for Lucas’s story. The bloody Brit is going to make me fall.

“So while you wait for the one”—get out of my head, playah!—“you live vicariously, setting up lavish matrimonial monstrosities and selling people an impossible fantasy. Overcompensate much?”
“Maxie,” James says. “Play nice.”

“This creeping up on me is getting to be a habit, Henderson.”
“My best work is done from behind,” I murmur in her ear, but then I notice a sort-of-familiar, pretty Asian woman, her mouth curved in a grin, and realize I need to behave. “Hi, I’m Max.”

“You’re killin’ me, Charles.”
