This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Elvis Presley’s fiancée and last love tells her story and sets the record straight in this deeply personal memoir that reveals what really happened in the final years of the King of Rock n' Roll.

Elvis Presley and Graceland were fixtures in Ginger Alden’s life; after all, she was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. But she had no idea that she would play a part in that enduring legacy. For more than three decades Ginger has held the truth of their relationship close to her heart. Now she shares her unique story…

In her own words, Ginger details their whirlwind romance—from first kiss to his stunning proposal of marriage. And for the very first time, she talks about the devastating end of it all and the fifty thousand mourners and reporters who descended on Graceland in 1977, exposing Ginger to the reality of living in the spotlight of a short yet immortal life.

Above it all, Ginger rescues Elvis from the hearsay, rumors, and tabloid speculations of his final year by shedding a frank yet personal light on a very public legend. From a unique and intimate perspective, she reveals the man—complicated, romantic, fallible, and human—behind the myth, a superstar worshipped by millions and loved by Ginger Alden.

Nov 10, 2014 – Alden, a fiancee of Presley, prompted to tell her story because of a conversation with her son about the legend, shares her memories. However, she sheds no new light on Elvis and doesn't allow glimpses below the surface of her own life with him. In September 1976, Presley invited Alden's sister Terry, who has just won the Miss Tennessee beauty title, to visit him at Graceland, and she asks if she can bring her sisters. To everyone's surprise, he asks Ginger, not Terry, to stay around and visit with him in private. Eventually, he requests that Ginger join him on his tours, whisking her away in private jets, putting her up in private suites, and sitting her backstage where he can see her during his shows. In just a couple of months, he becomes her "mentor, lover, and protector." Fewer than eight months after they meet, she finds Elvis sprawled on the floor of his bathroom, breathing his final breaths. Presley emerges from Alden's memoir as an eccentric, jealous, and needy person who confuses monetary generosity with love.

Outstanding read

A very non biased point of view by the author Ginger. We’ve heard everyone else’s prospective but, this one seems to be the most possible and accurate in my opinion. Very difficult to put this book down, I read it in just two days. Thank you Ginger for sharing your experience with Elvis and shedding light on things that have been left unmentioned. Highly recommend this book to anyone who is an Elvis fan. Very classy lady with tons of integrity and courage.

A wonderful love story

Ginger sat in front of me in homeroom in 9th grade. She was so beautiful. She was shy and quiet. What a great book to share with the world the truth about the last year of Elvis’ life.

Great book
