She looked into the dead face of the man she'd dined with the night before
Standing over the body of a Supreme Court nominee, Lieutenant Sam Holland is hip-deep in another high-profile murder case. The fact that she was one of the last people to see Julian Sinclair alive just complicates things even more. On the plus side, her relationship with Senator Nick Cappuano is heating up—but it's also attracting a lot of unwanted media attention and blinding flash bulbs.
The pressure is on for Sam to find Sinclair's killer, but a new lead in her father's unsolved shooting puts her in unexpected danger. When long-buried secrets threaten to derail her relationship with Nick, Sam realizes that while justice can be blind, mixing romance with politics has the potential to be fatal...
Love this short book . Lt. Samantha Holland is a worrier and a lady all at once . And Nick , her husband is wonderful. Together they make a dinamic team . I love the way they are there for each other. Freddie Cruz is to die for love the way he protects Sam and Elie is so in love with him . Can’t wait to see if they will marry, also Gonzo is a great detective too!
Fatal Justice is a great book , can’t wait to read the next book!!!
JD Robb should be flattered
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then JD Robb, author of the In Death series, should feel very flattered by Marie Force's detective Samantha Holland. I guess Robb's heroine is aptly named Eve since she clearly came first.
Sam Holland is a lieutenant in the Washington DC metro police who is involved with a US Senator. OK, so Nick is not Robb's billionaire Rourke but he is powerful and seems to have friends in all the right places. He accompanies Sam to crime scenes and is helpful to her investigations. Oh yeah, and he is insanely in love with Sam and they have lots of great sex. Exceedingly familiar.
Now none of this is to say that I am not enjoying the Fatal (c'mon...fatal...in death...really?!) series. I am...immensely. I love Sam and her irreverent attitude and her suffer no fools, take no prisoners attitude. I love the political aspects of the storylines and the supporting characters are intriguing. I will continue reading them.
However as a huge JD Robb fan who has read all her books more than once it is hard to read these and not see the patterns. If you enjoy Robb you'll most likely enjoy these books...they'll just feel like you've been down this path before. And that Robb should be getting a cut of the royalties.
Enjoying Nick and Samantha's story. Actually, I think a TV series would be successful with this storyline.
