Fifty Frogs

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

When Vivian left town for a three-month residency, she had no idea that she'd come back to find her life turned upside down.

The casual boyfriend who'd seemed ready to commit? Changed his mind.

The job she'd loved so much? Gone.

The parents she'd assumed would be there for emotional support? Off on the adventure of their lives.

When she realizes that she's essentially homeless, jobless and boyfriend-less, Vivian knows something has to change. She needs to take charge.

Inspired by her aunt's idea that a girl has to kiss at least fifty frogs to find her prince, Vivian comes up with a plan: she's going to go on a series of first dates only, and each one must end in a kiss. She'll chronicle each date--the good, the bad and the downright unbelievable--and turn the stories into an in-depth magazine series about the realities of dating in the twenty-first century.

While none of the frogs she meets--and kisses--make her heart leap, there's a guy closer to home who definitely does . . . and despite the fact that Charlie always seems to catch Vivian at her most awkward and embarrassing moments, she can't help wondering if it's time to ditch the plan . . . and kiss just one more frog.

I was charmed and cheered by Fifty Frogs. Charmed because the whole 'millennial singles do life' trope is littered with uber-angsty, grittier than sandpaper, disconnected and dissatisfied characters - but FF served up characters with memorably pleasant personalities and backstories. I liked these people; they were real. I laughed and cringed (and cried a bit) at this lively recounting of "The Frog Prince" circa 2018, with all the ups and downs in the couch-surfing, gig-hustling millennial world. I cheered for the heroine, a reluctantly brave young freelance writer who had to nerve up and kiss a few bodacious frogs before one turned out to be her personal prince. Some steamy bedroom shenanigans and HEA, of course, all of it written in a breezy, conversational first-person voice. The whole thing is a treat, a just-plain-treat!
I want to thank BookSprout for the ARC of Fifty Frogs, and the chance to share my independent opinion of the book: Rrrribbit !!

Laugh out loud funny

Loved this book. It’s laugh out loud funny. Manages to be sweet as well with sexual tension through hte roof. Loved the side characters as well. Great start to the #meetcute books.
