Description

Deep within the Pentagon, a covert, multi-billion arms-for-influence program was created. The objective was to protect the United States and its allies from terrorist acts by secretly enabling a hand-picked man to emerge as the most powerful leader in the Middle East. But the charismatic Tristan Nazir double-crosses America, twisting the program for his own violent ends to create ISIS. Now America is at great risk.

Elite operative Dewey Andreas is sent to Syria to retrieve details about the source of ISIS’s funding but his cover is blown mid-operation and chaos erupts in the streets of Damascus. Trapped and outnumbered, Dewey manages to send proof of the awful truth—unknown at even the highest levels in the government—that ISIS’s munitions were indeed provided by America itself.

This information arrives in time to for the U.S. to cut off a final arms shipment before it reaches ISIS. But the vicious Nazir, is far from finished. He launches a bold strike into the heart of America, sending a terrorist cell to take over a dorm at Columbia University, capturing hundreds of college students as hostages. For every hour that the shipment of weapons is withheld, the terrorists will publicly execute one student. The potential loss of life is intolerable. A frontal assault is impossible. Releasing the shipment is unthinkable. There is nowhere to turn…

In a situation with no solutions, there remains only one option—Dewey Andreas.

From Publishers Weekly

Apr 25, 2016 – Bestseller Coes piles disaster on top of disaster in his melodramatic sixth thriller featuring CIA operative Dewey Andreas (after 2015’s Independence Day). Several years in the past, Mark Raditz, the deputy U.S. secretary of defense, decided to invest $2 billion from a secret fund in Tristan Nazir, a jihadist who wanted to create a Muslim state based on the American political system, in the hope that Nazir will bring some stability to the Middle East. That gamble backfired, as Nazir ended up the leader of ISIS. Things get even worse for Raditz in the present when Nazir takes Raditz’s ex-wife and daughter hostage and demands a massive resupply of weapons in return for their safety. Meanwhile, Dewey goes on a perilous mission inside Syria to hook up with an American consulate official; the official is in touch with a highly placed source within ISIS who claims that the terrorist group has been funded and armed by the U.S. Fans of the Die Hard movie franchise will find the swift pacing and escalating threats and complications to their taste. 125,000-copy first printing; author tour.

First Strike - Seven Lives

Book was good. A lot of action. Something that unfortunately could become reality. Poor Dewey got himself into quite a few jams. Fortunately he must have 7 lives. I think he might have used up 5 or 6 in this book. I liked the action and I liked the ending.

Best Coes yet!

Big fan of Ben Coes. This is his best yet. You won't skim a paragraph. If you like Vince Flynn, you'll love this.

First Strike

This is a must read. We can use modern-day fiction books like this to better educate ourselves about the world around us. The plot take a little to develop but once the action picks up, you won't be able to put the book down. Great work!
