A night he can’t forget
Five years ago, Nick Markovic found himself consumed by his quest for vengeance. The one time he managed to find peace was in the arms of Hayley Dalton. Being with her was like bathing in sunlight, and he ached to feel that again, but he couldn’t. He gave his oath to Hayley’s cousin Desiree, his partner at McKay-Taggart and Knight, that he’d never let his darkness infect Hayley’s innocent world.
A spark she can’t put out
It was years before that Hayley offered everything she had to Nick. After that one amazing night, all she wanted was to be his forever. Unfortunately, Nick’s reaction was to walk away from her and never look back. The warm and caring man she’d discovered was gone, and after Des’s death, he’d only grown colder. But when Hayley finds herself in mortal danger, she’s forced to seek protection from the man who broke her heart.
A flame that threatens to consume them both
Haunted by the women he failed, Nick can’t allow himself to grow close to Hayley again. Running to stay ahead of the powerful forces that endanger their lives, they travel from the lush Garden in London to the glittering lights of Rio. As the threat against her becomes clearer, he realizes that to keep her safe he must confront the demons from his past, even if it costs him a future with the woman he loves.
A Masters and Mercenaries Novel by Lexi Blake
Once again Lexi Blake brings us into the world of spies, intrigue, romance and a bit of BDSM to keep hot! I love this series so much I will never get tired of it and that is saying a lot because most others I start to not care about the new characters. But the Mckay / Taggart folks are so wonderful I devour every book in the series.
We met Nick briefly a few books back but then became more acquainted with him in Submission is not Enough when he was mourning the loss of his partner/lover Desire. It turns out she wasn’t the love of his life. It was actually her young cousin Hayley who he meets through Des develops a friendship with. When Hayley is, older she tells Nick her feelings for him— on the heels of a huge fight with Des he has an unforgettable night with the woman he hopes to spend the rest of his life with, Hayley. Unfortunately, Des and fate have other plans and he leaves poor Hayley with the thought that he doesn’t want her, choosing revenge over love. This devastates her of course but she preservers, goes to college becomes a history professor. She has a nice quiet life, until Desire’s death turns Hayley’s life upside down. In order to save her life, she needs to turn to the one man who broke her heart for protection.
I loved Nick and Hayley’s chemistry at first knowing their backstory I thought she would let him walk all over her but she proved me wrong. She put him in his place for leaving her and lying to her and once she understood his lifestyle she wanted to know more about the man she fell in love with so long ago. Nick thought he was protecting Hayley by leaving her, classic hero mistake. Once Hayley is back in his life he can’t resist the need to have her. Hayley wants to be his partner as well as his lover and once Nick realizes that’s the only way he will be able to have the woman he loves it’s all sunshine and roses from there. Well sort of—Des left them a big old mess to handle so there is a bunch of suspense, a bit of violence, a whole lot of sarcasm and a few bodies to be disposed of. Ian and Charlotte Taggart play a big part in this book and I was so happy to get more of this terrific couple. They added an extra special spice to this one especially when Nick uses their sexual exploits at the Garden to get Hayley in touch with her submissive/voyeur side. When Hayley and Nick stop letting their pasts with Des get in the way of their future they are able to see what really matters.
I can’t wait for Brody’s story the teaser we got at the end of For His Eyes Only has me chomping at the bit to know more.

Lexi Blake’s latest release in her Masters and Mercenaries Series, For His Eyes Only is hands-down my favorite book in this fabulous series. And here’s why:
For His Eyes Only is the story of Nikolai Markovic and Hayley Dalton. But it’s just not a romantic coming together of two people destined for one another — it’s a tale of intrigue and betrayal, of suspense and manipulation, of sex and love — all set within Blake’s splendid McKay-Taggart universe.
Nick is in a bad way — his sister, Katja, was brutally murdered, and his partner, fellow operative and sometime lover, Desiree, has also been killed. Now based in London working for the McKay-Taggart and Knight Security Service, Nick has just about lost his humanity. He hangs on to it by a thread — the thread of a memory of a few hours spent with Desiree’s cousin, Hayley Dalton. It’s been five years since the night he took Hayley’s virginity, and five years since Desiree intervened and convinced Nick that he and Hayley were of different worlds.
Hayley never got over Nick, either. After Desiree’s death, it is Hayley who receives her cousin’s possessions. When her home is mysteriously blown up, Hayley goes on the run, leaving the States, headed for the one person she knows who will protect her — Nick.
Once in London and safely ensconced in The Garden, Hayley is now under the protection of Nick, and Nick is never letting his dushka go. What follows is a heart-stopping race to find the people who want Hayley, dead or alive, and the motivation behind it. I do not exaggerate when I say that moments of this story felt as if they had been written by John le Carré. The weaving of this plot is nothing short of consummate story telling.
An absolutely gripping tale, rife with intrigue, perfumed with romance and urgent sex, For His Eyes Only receives my highest recommendation.
Another Amazing Hit!
For His Eyes Only is lucky number 13 in the incredible Masters and Mercenaries series by the incomparable Lexi Blake. If you are really keeping count though, this is the 24th tome containing the crew from the newly renamed McKay-Taggart-Knight Security Services. (I so want a job.) I’ll even be a nice knotty girl and give you a list at the end of my review of all of the novels, novellas, and even a cookbook! (Thank-You Sean! ♥ ) Honestly, this is one of my absolute favorite series, and I’ve been reading it since Sean seduced Grace in The Dom Who Loved Me. (My heart STILL belongs to Liam O’Donnell, I just love that sexy Irishman. *A Dom Is Forever*)
As I was saying, we are now at book 13, and this time it’s dark, sexy and broody Russian Nick Markovic. For those of you who need a quick reminder, Nick was one of the operatives along on the mission to rescue Ten. His partner, and lover Des is killed during that op. We now move across the pond to London to the Knight part of the operation, Nick stays mostly to his rooms and drinks far too much vodka. Not only is he thinking of Des and what she was mixed-up in, but he’s also thinking of her cousin Hayley. He had one amazing night with Hayley five years earlier, and almost had a shot at a different life. But, not wanting to subject Hayley to dangers from his past and a chance at vengeance, he walked away.
Now, Hayley finds herself in a whole lot of trouble. She has no home, no job, and is on the run from people who want her dead and she isn’t quite sure why. She only knows that there is one person who can protect her, so she shows up at Nick’s doorstep asking for help. The question is, can he keep her safe from himself?
As usual, this was a completely engrossing, entertaining page-turner that I couldn’t put down. Lexi writes the most amazing characters full of sex appeal, wit, and full of life. They are alpha males who are dominant, yet tender, brilliant at their jobs, yet have demons just like the rest of us that show their vulnerable side. The women are strong yet submissive, have backbones of steel, yet are warm, loving and accepting. And oh so smart. And don’t get me started on Ian Taggart. He just brings the whole motley crew together like a dominant, wise (as*), man you never want to cross, best friend you could ever have, father. One of the best books this year, I hope the series never ends.
