“An action-packed, satisfying love story gets this supernatural series off to a rousing start.”—Kirkus Reviews
Lori Adams puts a twist on paranormal romance with the first novel of The Soulkeepers, a series that blends ancient legends and new myths with an enchanting mix of thrills, humor, and high drama.
When Sophia St. James learns that she’ll be moving from Los Angeles to a podunk town somewhere in Connecticut for her senior year of high school, she isn’t expecting an otherworldly encounter. But there is more to Haven Hurst than meets the eye: it’s home to a family of Guardian Angels, and she is the only one who can see them in spirit form. Sophia soon realizes she wants to see much more of Michael, an irresistible yet volatile Guardian who seems drawn to her too.
As Michael battles his forbidden desire for the beautiful young newcomer, one of Hell’s most notorious Demon Knights arrives. Handsome and charismatic, Dante has come to claim the reincarnated soul of his lost lover trapped in Sophia. Cursed with the demon of Persuasion living inside him, Dante will use his seductive charms to lure Sophia into a dangerous game that ends with the kiss of death—unless Michael, who has captured Sophia’s heart, can now capture her soul.

Second time around not as enjoyable, but still good.
This is a re-read for me. I read maybe two years ago. Initially, this was an exciting read for me. I rated it 5 stars. Lots of action. The anticipation to re-read was there. Unfortunately, this time around, I found myself screaming at Sophia. The character comes across so strong, and yet, she is a complete idiot. I had to remember that she is 17 and prone to stupidity. She really is such a follower. Even though, in her mind she is saying I should not do this or that, she ends up following. Her parents are always trying to keep one step ahead of her mistakes, up to the last. Her father is tormented by the death of her mother and his own demons, and yet, she feels that giving herself to Dante would save him? She doesn't even know her father. He would never be able to live with her "sacrifice." She can be very selfish and self-centered. Forcing everyone who loves her to risk that lives because of her bad choices. Again I remind myself that she is 17. Michael, however, is just as I remember. Strong, determined, since of purpose. He is so focused on his own goals, is blindsided by his destiny. I still enjoyed the book. The characters are so amazing. The humans, as well as the angels and demons. Such an interesting world Ms. Adams has created. I will continue to re-read the soulkeeper series and highly recommend. Enjoy!
