In an edgy, seductive novel hailed by Rachel Van Dyken as “unique and gripping,” Jessica Lemmon introduces the ultimate bad boy . . . and a love that crosses all boundaries.
Morgan Young had a perfect upbringing, and now she’s got a perfect boyfriend and a perfect future—until her twenty-first birthday changes everything. First Morgan finds out, in the most painful way possible, that her relationship is a sham. But that’s nothing compared to the nightmare about to unfold.
It’s too late for Tucker Noscalo. A brutal childhood left him with a bad reputation and a criminal record. Fresh out of jail, Tucker has a score to settle with Baybrook’s crooked chief of police—his own father. Nobody will believe Tucker’s explosive accusations without proof and a good lawyer, neither of which he has on his side. Until he sees someone he used to know, someone who just so happens to be the daughter of the best lawyer in the county.
He needs Morgan to convince her father of the ugly truth. But first he has to convince her, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get her to listen. Confronted by the story of Tucker’s dark past, Morgan feels utterly compelled to help him. And as their connection grows into a fierce bond fueled by raw passion, Morgan finds herself falling for the wrong guy—but never has the promise of love felt so right.

Dark & Intriguing
This is a very dark and emotional story. The pain that is translated through the telling of the story is tangible. The book is very fast-paced and it needs to be. The issues are handled with care and are dealt with in a very appropriate and healing manner. I was touched by the story and the characters.
Forgotten Promises Jessica Lemmon
By the second chapter in this latest Bad Boy story by Jessica Lemmon your heart is already pounding. Alternating chapters told by the main characters, Tucker Noscalo and Morgan Young keep the reader right in the heart of the story.
Tucker Noscalo is an ex-con with a mission to expose the chief of police for the animal he is, and who would know better than his own son? Unfortunately his first meeting with his father is a confrontation with fists. Tucker's on the run again. After "borrowing" a car he stops at a convenience store for supplies and is surprised to see a young woman he knew from high school buying a cheap bottle of wine. She recognizes him immediately and is quick to announce it's her twenty first birthday! He pays for her wine and walks out.
Morgan Young lived a privileged life. Her dad is an attorney and known as the " best defense attorney money could buy." She just walked away from her boyfriend and her best friend after being told they were in love. On her birthday! She leaves on foot, and stops at a local store to call a cab. Running into Tucker was not what she had expected. She had a huge crush on him in high school, in fact, he had rescued her from a very amorous football player. Morgan walks out after Tucker to thank him for the wine. Probably not a good decision. Tucker realize how awesome it would be to have Aaron Young as his attorney and Morgan on his side. Unfortunately Morgan isn't given a choice, and wakes tied up, in the trunk of a car with a bloody and pounding head.
My emotions were all over the place reading this story. To hear Tucker tell about his childhood, loss of his brother and fear of the danger his dad is to society broke my heart. Morgan believes him and works to gain his trust. The last few chapters have such highs and lows I couldn't put the book down. This is a fascinating love story with heat and lots of hope.
OMG, I LOVED this book!
OK, in my review of Jessica Lemmon’s first Lost Boys book (Fighting for Devlin) I said “Unfortunately, I think I must not care for “bad boy” stories.” That statement couldn’t be further from the truth in regards to this story. Yes, Tucker would be classified as a bad boy, but the more I read his story the more my heart broke for him and I just couldn’t put the book down. Tucker is one of the most vulnerable, and yet strong, characters I’ve ever read.
I’ve read a lot of stories where the Hero has had a horrible childhood but I don’t think I’ve ever read one that was quite like this. Tucker has suffered horribly – at the hands of his own father. I won’t go into more detail about this; you need to read it.
Morgan has been going along in her life unaware that her boyfriend and BFF were hooking up. On what she thinks is probably the worst day of her life, things go downhill even further when she runs into Tucker at a convenience store. Tucker saved Morgan several years ago in school and she is having trouble reconciling that Tucker with the one she is experiencing today.
The book blurb give a very good picture of what the story is about. What it can’t, of course, reveal is the depth that the actual book contains. I know my review is not doing this story justice. That always happens when I have to review a book that has affected me deeply. While parts of this story are very dark and painful to read, Ms. Lemmon doesn’t skimp on the sexy time so parts of this book are pretty hot.
The story is told in alternating points of view which works perfectly for this book. I’m now a firm fan of Jessica Lemmon’s writing and I can’t wait to read her next book.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
