The Talon Pack continues with a dark secret that could shatter the future of the Packs, or save them all.
Parker Jamenson is the son of three Packs, the sole mediator between every Pack in the United States and Europe, and…he’s dying. He knows he doesn’t have much left in him and is in desperate need of a mate. But with the new and unyielding changes thanks to the Moon Goddess, he might not have as much time as he thinks.
Brandon Brentwood is the Omega of the Talon Pack and the youngest of his family. He’s not only one of the famed triplets; he’s also the most secretive. There’s a good reason for that, however, and when a shocking revelation meshes the past and present in a very unexpected way, he’ll look to not only Parker but also a disgraced human to save them all.
Avery Montag knows she’s the daughter of a traitor and doesn’t have much to give the wolves in the way of atonement. But she’ll do everything she can to pay for her father’s sins and find a way to end the war between the humans and the wolves.
When the three turn to each other in a time of unrest and for vastly different reasons, temptation burns and seduction beckons. Only, the past, present, and future are never as solid as they seem, and the path the trio thought to travel may just vanish before they’re ready.
Will the wolves ever be accepted by humans...
In this mythology the wolf is more a sixth sense or instinct, and strength. There's just enough action, angst and sexy times. I love these characters and the extended cast is so familiar now. The story line has been evolving but there is always a standalone romance to warm your heart and make you smile.
The Talon pack has been attached from without and within. Their main opposition has been taken out, General Montag. Unfortunately their troubles are not over. Their Omega, Brandon, is aging and feeling it. They take in Parker Jameson who needs to stay away from his family right now. Then General Montag's daughter shows up, to help? Three tortured souls thrown together, is the Moon Goddess bringing them together. Can the Talons and all of the packs find some peace and security?
Heartbreaking and wonderfully victorious ending to a story arc
It's hard to say anything about this book without some spoilers but I will try to do as few as possible. Be warned however that there are SOME SPOILERS AHEAD. So stop reading if you don't want to know anything.
I'm not sure where to begin with this review. I've just finished wiping the tears off my face. The last time Carrie Ann wrote a devastating climatic battle scene like the one at the end of this book to wrap up a story arc was in 'Fighting Fate' Redwood Pack book 7. I'm not sure I ever really got over that one, so to read this one was heartbreaking and wonderfully victorious all at once.
Avery, Parker and Brandon set a new precedent as mates in this story. Carrie Ann has decided to change things up a bit, and now the mating urge that all wolves feel when they meet their potential mates is no more. The reason for that is a little complicated and has to do with things that occurred in the previous book in the series but it may just make sense. I'm just not sure that I liked the author adding this twist to the series.
One of the things I love about many shifter books is that shifters know immediately, usually by smell, who their mate is. Unfortunately, poor Parker and Brandon are not lucky enough to know that and fight their attraction to each other. They both need to find their potential mates as soon as possible and don't want to waste time fooling around with someone who isn't. Reminds me too much of a human love story. I'm hoping this is not a foretelling of how it will be in future books in this series. Once they get over their confusion and finally realize what they are to each other, and Avery, things move right along.
There are plenty of twists and turns for the triad as well as all of the wolf packs. This is the grand finale of the story arc that Carrie Ann has been leading us up to in all of the previous books in the series. And what a whopper it is. So grab a tissue and be prepared to say goodbye to some beloved characters. I'm not sure I have forgiven Carrie Ann for that yet (no matter how brilliantly the scene was written) or changing up recognizing the mating bond, hence the reason I had to take this review down a star.
Now I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. I'm just hoping there will be a reprieve for awhile before she decides to bring about more devastation, because these stories are like crack and I just can't give them up!
This is book 5 of Talon Pack series. This is a stand alone book with a wonderful HEA. It can be rea md alone but I recommend to read them in order. I loved this story. Could not put it down. I recommend this book to all shifter lovers. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
