Get It On
Book 5, Man of the Month
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Skillful hands. A talented tongue.
Meet Mr. May.
Fate’s been messing with Army veteran Tyree Johnson. It took his buddies in combat and his wife in a fatal car accident. But he’ll be damned if he’ll let Fate take his beloved bar, The Fix on Sixth.
For years, he’s avoided being Fate’s whipping boy through sheer force of will, and now every bit of his focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that is, the first woman who ever touched his heart walks back into his life—along with a daughter he never knew.
After years of loneliness, Tyree’s not prepared for the way Eva’s sensual curves and sharp wit still capture his heart and rekindle his senses. All he knows is that for the first time in forever, he’s found a passion other than his bar. But one final twist arrives when Fate pits the bar he can’t bear to lose against the woman who’s stolen his heart.
He’s a master at red-hot ecstasy.
I love second chance romances. Love and laughter can be beautiful but can Tyree find his own HEA twice in one lifetime? Get it On has it all. Although it can be read as a standalone, I feel that reading it in order is so much more rewarding.
***Possible spoilers***Whew! Tyree and Eva's story was much more emotional than I was expecting. Now since this is a running series I would normally recap the beginning so you know what this series is all about but I actually think this one could easily be read as a standalone. So saying that, I'll just do a short recap.
Tyree is the owner of the bar called The Fix on Sixth. His bar is hosting a man of the month calendar event to help bring in new business to his and his partners establishment. Each book in the series represents the man of that month and this one is Tyree's.
Tyree is a widower with a 16 year old son. Long before he married his wife, he had a first love. He believes she ghosted on him while he was on active duty.
Eva has always loved Tyree and when she thought he was gone to her, she gave into her fathers pressuring to marry the man he wanted her too to give her daughter a father.
Elana, Tyree and Eva's daughter is now 24 years old and she has just learned her father is alive. There is no stopping her from finding him and possibly reuniting him with her mom.
I love Tyree and Eva's story. I love the way they reconnected and how flawlessly both families blended. The only thing standing in there way is Tyree's love of his deceased wife and his inability to know how to move on. This had such a great message and I truly enjoyed their beautiful story.
“He wasn’t sure if he was luckier than most or cursed to have had that kind of passion. The kind of love that sunk into the marrow and made you part of the other person.”
Mr. May has his own internal struggles that he has been fighting for seven years. Will the itch finally go away? Will he breakthrough what has been holding himself back and finally set his guilt free?
“You don’t have to love her. You don’t have to want her. But please don’t hurt her.”
Was it all lies, secrets and hiding from him? Or were they both deceived? Now they and looking to fulfill their memories, hopes, dreams and be freed of their regrets. Will they get their second chance or will the guilt win?
“...how could a young woman grow up right if her closest role model was a woman who settled?”
There are many emotions in this story and they are handled beautifully, passionately, respectfully and as always~with humor! I love the strength and weaknesses of these characters. The maturity yet the playfulness is just as endearing.
“I said there wasn’t much. But I won’t give myself. I won’t settle. I did that before, and I’m not going to do it again….I want a man who loves me. Who isn’t afraid to love me completely.”
Tyree was so easy to fall in love with. Yet I can’t wait to find out what Mr. June has in store for
Parker in the Man of the Month series!
