The Good Thief's Guide to Venice

Book 4, Good Thief's Guide - A Mystery

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Charlie, a gentleman thief to rival Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief, gallivants around Venice in The Good Thief's Guide to Venice--the next caper in Chris Ewan's sparkling series.

After a particularly bad streak of luck in Vegas, Charlie has retreated to Venice, having vowed to give up a life of crime to write crime fiction full-time. But inspiration has yet to strike. And to make matters worse, Charlie's agent Victoria shows up at his door just as his prized first edition of The Maltese Falcon flies out the window with a femme-fatale burglar. Blackmailed into committing a dastardly crime in order to get his book back, Charlie is catapulted into yet another adventure, this one even more explosive than the last.

From Publishers Weekly

Jun 13, 2011 – Now a resident of Venice, thief and mystery author Charlie Howard promises his long-suffering literary agent, Victoria Newbury, that he'll devote himself professionally only to his Michael Faulks burglar novels in Ewan's hilarious yet suspenseful fourth caper novel (after 2010's The Good Thief's Guide to Vegas). Charlie's resolve to give up crime is put to the test when, in the middle of the night, an attractive cat-burglar steals his autographed first edition of The Maltese Falcon, which he uses as his inspiration, and leaves a flyer in its place, the first of several crumbs he must follow to ascertain the burglar's true motivation. His adversary, who identifies herself as Graziella, promises to return the book if Charlie breaks into a palace, not to steal anything, but to return a briefcase. Ewan can turn a Wodehousian phrase on occasion, and his taut plotting adds substance to his considerable style.
