Groove Masters

Groove Masters is designed to be used by drummers, percussionists and educators during the first two years of lessons. With a focus on rock rhythms & patterns, students are introduced to the core elements of music which they will encounter every day in their musical life. 



Aural skills are developed through the use of Call & Response plus My Turn Your Turn recordings. Basic Rhythms recordings familiarise students with phrases they will see and hear regularly, while the Tempo Testers utilise the built in metronome recordings to build confidence and accuracy.  These then lead to the multi-tempo Drumset Duets which prepare students for a range of ensemble situations. Introductory Grooves permit students to work on their three-way coordination and become comfortable with the core building blocks used by all drumset players while the Quizzes balance musical & theory knowledge. Finally the Mini Solos and Texture Variations prepare students for the signature Drumset & Featured Solos. 


Core skills covered: coordination, aural ability, understanding of tempo, stylistic knowledge, song structure, creativity, introduction to improvising, elements of music related to drumming, call & response, basic music theory.
