Are you ready to get pricing and samples made for your garments in Vietnam? Read this book to prepare in advance and make it happen. Learn from a Vietnam garment industry expert. Learn basic knowledge about fabrics, printing, price negotiation, shipping, quality control, import duties and more to get your production done right the first time. My name is Chris, a Vietnam garment industry expert. I am an American who has lived in Vietnam since 2008 working in a Vietnamese sewing factory. I am sharing my insider knowledge to guide you as you investigate garment production in Vietnam. I don’t want you to lose time, money or hope when faced with language barriers, cultural barriers or high MOQs.
The book is full of valuable insider tips based on my on-the-ground experience. I cover technical issues about garment manufacturing like zipper sizes, knitting structures, grading and fabric weight testing in case you are not sure what options you have. I share cultural tips like how to address junior and senior Vietnamese staff, what gifts are appropriate to give to factory staff and Vietnamese hand gestures you should avoid. I teach you some basic Vietnamese vocabulary that can be easily misunderstood. Finally, I make referrals to agents, factory owners and service companies in my network that I highly recommend. Get it straight from a Vietnam garment industry expert.
The main message of my book is that if you can’t produce 2,000 pieces per style then produce locally first. I introduce you to local consultants and factories outside of Vietnam that can help you get started before you venture into a foreign land like Vietnam. Vietnam is a beautiful country with wonderful people, highly skilled labor and fair business practices but, as with anything new, having a guide can save you time, money and frustration.
