Life of My Own
This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.
As a homeless child prodigy, Harley Flanagan played drums for bands at Max’s Kansas City and CBGBs, and was taught to play bass by the famed black band Bad Brains, and drank with the notorious Lemmy of Motörhead. Most famously, Harley became a member of the famous hardcore band The Cro-Mags, and disputes accusations of stabbing two band members.
Tough to put down
A great and unique life story. Unlike anything you’ve heard. The violence and and grotesque are constant but still the humanity of Harley never is completely drowned. The truth is stranger than fiction. You couldn’t make up a life like this.
Way more hard-core than me!
Great read. You find out how hardcore you arent every now and then when you hear about someone like Harley.
Real American History
I couldn't wait for a chance to read Harley's story. This book captures a piece of American history that many people in my generation are thirsting for. I'm in my mid 40s and grew up in a single parent family listening to hardcore and spending my time on the streets. His story's of Skinhead culture touched a cord with me. I recommend this book to anyone who is facing life's struggles and want to learn about the real New York punk rock/hardcore scene.
