She left a fabulous career and a frustrated fiancé in New York to move to Vegas and save her father’s investment. But now Monica is locking horns with a sexy cowboy-turned-businessman. What does Ty think he can do that she can’t? All Monica knows is that she doesn’t dare trust him—or is it herself she doesn’t trust?...
The battle lines are drawn. The stakes are high. And the attraction can’t be denied—especially the more closely Ty and Monica have to work together. Some odds are just meant to be played, and with chemistry this electric, it may be time to grab life by the horns…

"Erotic and sexy." —Library Journal on the Devil DeVere series
"For erotic passion and one-liners, the first book in Vane's new series will satisfy... Vane's latest gets a big yee-haw." —RT Book Reviews on Slow Hand
This was a great read. When Monica's father has a stroke she comes face to face with someone who captivates her as much as he irritates her. Her fathers business partner and someone he has known since he was a young boy.
Ty is scared, the only man who he has ever cared about, the father figure in his life has had a stroke and thrown Ty's life into a tailspin, when he meets Monica for the first time, first impressions are less than impressionable.
But the sparks quickly fly between these two. But both are stubborn and from different worlds, can these two total opposites make it work? Do they want it to work? You have to read on to find out, and I highly suggest you do, this was my first read by this author and I'm hooked.
the deeper connection that they both fought so hard to ignore had me unable to buy into Ty and Monic
Two strangers, a hotel in financial trouble, misconceptions, poorly explained agendas and a debilitating stroke set the scene for the first in the Hotel Rodeo series. Ty is from Oklahoma, relocated to Las Vegas with a once successful, now in need of upgrades, hotel. Women find him charming and irresistible, fortunate for him as ‘commitment to a relationship’ is not in his vocabulary.
When his friend, partner and mentor/father figure Tom agrees to finance the renovations, things are looking up for Ty, and then Tom has a massive stroke. Racing to her father’s side, Monica has dropped everything to manage her father’s affairs and see to his health.
These two are oil and water, acting on assumptions and first impressions with little or no validation for their conclusions. It was understandable to see Monica’s distrust at first, but Ty’s obvious caring for her father should have allayed those concerns, at least to some degree. But the continued back and forth, the repeated refusal to see what was staring themselves in the face was frustrating and made me want to shake them both. There was chemistry for sure, but the deeper connection that they both fought so hard to ignore had me unable to buy into Ty and Monica as a couple.
And, perhaps they will give me more time to see them together, and fighting the obstacles to their happiness instead of one another, as the story is not yet complete….
