Her Secret Prince
Book 2, Rags to Riches
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
At sixteen, Dee Johnson gambled her heart on her best friend Jed Brown – and lost when he disappeared without a trace.
Ten years on, Dee’s life is uprooted when Jed turns up on her doorstep, asking for her help.
Dee has been left behind by everyone she’s loved: her parents, her close friend Alexia, and a stream of lovers. She moves fast with men and suspects this is why they move on fast. Now that’s Jed’s back in her life, she’s taking no chances. Despite the attraction ripping at her seams, she holds back, knowing she wouldn’t recover from being loved and left by him a second time.
A constant traveler, Jed has only felt at home once in his life – with Dee. Now that he’s found her again, he’s determined to make up for lost time. He’ll never leave her again.
Until an unexpectedly royal revelation threatens to strip Jed of his freedom and future – including his place by Dee’s side.
I really enjoyed Dee and Jed's story. Dee is an honest, straight to the point character that I really admired. I also liked how Dee was willing to drop everything to go to Europe to support Jed in finding his father.
**I received an ARC in exchange for my opinion**
Dee and Jed were teenage crushes torn apart--Jed mysteriously disappeared from her life. Ten years later, he's back, and he needs her help to discover his past and find the missing pieces of his life. Shocking revelations turn life upside down, but the one constant is Dee. As they are rekindled with love, they find a way to make a life together and find "home." A great read!
Best Decisions at that Time
Sometimes in life a parent makes a decision thinking that is what is best for their child and given the facts at that time it might have been. Jeb's mother does this for him, she keeps him from the ties of his royalty by going into hiding and constantly moving, so Jeb won't be tied to the responsibility of being a heir to the throne or know his father. His father isn't sure he has a son as Melissa disappeared from the palace with no word or note.
Once it is confirmed, Oscar keeps close tabs on Jeb from afar. Jeb meets Dee on one of the many moves as his mother bounces around, but Oscar finds them and his mother moves them right way. 10 years later Oscar reaches out to Jeb and Jeb goes on a journey to find Dee and what happened that night his mother made them move to another town so quickly.
Dee helps Jeb with the courage to meet his father. Dee is flamboyant and a force to reckon with. She knows what she wants and goes for it. I really enjoyed the contrast in these characters and their honesty with each other.
I received an ARC for an honest and fair review.
