Highland Soldiers: The Enemy

Book 1, Highland Soldiers

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

Only an enemy soldier could save her life--and her heart.

Highland soldier Callum MacDonell battled lowland Covenanters at the service of the King. Now charged with hunting an assassin, his journey would lead not to justice, but to a murderer's passionate Covenanter sister, Mari McEwan.

Betrayed and abandoned by the man she loved, Mari faced judgment by a tribunal of her people demanding she name the father of her unborn child, or be exiled from everything she knows.

Book 1 in the Highland Soldiers series, Scottish historical romances set during the turbulent Covenanter times of 17th century Scotland.

Highlander Soldiers: The Enemy

This was a wonderful book that was so good I couldn't put down. I loved the Scotland romance & the humor hidden within. Will definitely read more of your books.

Ok

I found myself being pulled in by this book because of the characters. The book itself, however, was a little bit painful to read. The author takes us through so many strong events in the characters lives but does not fully resolve them. It's almost as if there was so much they wanted to squeeze in they forgot the integrity of the writing. Mari, I assumed, was suppose to be s strong character and most of the time she was... But then she would do something and/or say something and I would just stare at the page and say, "HUH?!?!" After I finished the book I found myself thinking about what happened and being annoyed at the disrespect for the characters I almost loved.

On a more positive note I did enjoy some of the banter back and forth between the group of main characters. When the characters "spoke" I could hear their accent, I've read quite a few books and found the writing in a Scottish dialect was one of the better ones... It was just WHAT they said that grew tiresome.

Although I did finish the book, I am not going to buy the others in the series. Definitely not worth the frustrated feelings and blurry writing. I can see potential with this Author (I can not express to you how many books I read!) I believe that the structure of the book needed to be thought out and written better. So many weird little things could have been easily left out, making the story flow smoothly. That's my two cents, anyway!

Highland Soldiers: The Enemy
