Then Laurel finds out about Sam’s ominous ancestry and a whole different fear arises. Fear of who Sam really is. Fear of her own feelings. And when she learns the dark truth about her own future, a sinister secret that will change everything as soon as she turns nineteen, she wants to run and hide, but soon realizes that there is no hiding from fate. Sam may be the only one who can help her escape her destiny, but then she has to start trusting him again, and time is of the essence because he has his own fate to deal with. Love everything about this book! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Cliffhanger, angsty, abusive situations

Lots of tension and mixed signals like 2 spining magnets that are in turns attracted, then repelled (by circumstances). This doomed relationship, that even if they were able to stay together, would probably cause her distruction, like a lemming over a cliff. To top it all off this ends in a cliffhanger. If I wasn’t depressed before, I am now, and angry. The author writes likable characters, then sets out to abuse them in various ways. Sadistic! Toxic!
Bundeling the trilogy would be an excellent move IMO so that readers have a chance at some form of resolution. As it stands, if this were a physical book, I would throw it across the room. I would have also appriciated the warning that this is a cliffhanger, so I could walk on by and save myself the trouble. So far it is tragady, not a romance (in the classical sense).
