Apple is leading the pack again—this time with a new ebook creation application that pushes the limits of ebook publishing. iBooks Author makes it easy for Mac users to create "multi-touch" ebooks that combine text, images, video, and interactive elements with finely tuned page layouts.
iBooks Author: Publishing Your First Ebook helps you learn how to take advantage of iBooks Author's amazing feature set to create your own ebooks without a lot of trial and error experimentation. Using an illustrated, step-by-step approach, it guides you through the creation of a sample ebook with features you're sure to want in your own ebook publications.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This edition of the book is in standard iBooks epub format. It was NOT created with iBooks Author. PLEASE do not rate or review this book based on the fact that it is not a multi-touch ebook. To do so is unfair and misleading. Please check the sample for this book before purchasing it. Thank you for your understanding.
Excellent book for getting started using iBooks Author. Gives a step by step guide for the development of an actual book which is a better learning experience than books which are simply reference manuals. You will come up to speed much faster using this book than wading through the online help. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to several minor errors in the text (not technical errors, but mis-spelling, wrong example references, etc.). It would be nice if iBooks lets authors correct errata in their books and allow people who purchased the books to get free updates, like you get with apps.
Great book, lots of useful details and examples
This is an excellent tutorial on iBooks Author, presenting many useful details as well as knitting together the big-picture concepts. The reader is guided through a start-to-finish example using text and media elements provided by the author's website. With the exception of a few typos here and there, this is a polished and well-designed book that will quickly get you up to speed with iBooks Author.
It has a lot of information but some important infos (landscape vs portrait) come way too late in the book which need to be introduced much earlier to understand the concept
