Meet Colton Wade, FMX rider...
I’m just a small town guy who caught a lucky break. Now I’m living the dream, on the brink of high-flying super-stardom. But something’s missing.
That something is Taylor.
She’s my best friend. The one who makes me want to push harder and higher. The one I fall back on when s**t gets tough. The one I’d give it all up for.
I’d do anything to protect her. To make her dreams come true too.
But a single night changes everything.
And now the one she needs protection from...is me.
I rated it a 4 but it's more like a 4.5.
I like when stories alternate POVs, I like to know what everyone is thinking and feeling. Lets be honest most women I know would love to have a best friend that they eventually fall for, but only after really being friends and knowing everything about one another. I think the two of them are good for each other, they are alike in a lot of ways but they also bring uniqueness to the table that a successful couple needs. I wanted to slap Colton upside the head quite a few times, and once I actually had to throw my hand over my mouth and tell him he was stupid. And that cliffhanger!! I had the idea floating in my head for probably half the book, I didn't think it would actually happen this book but apparently I was wrong!! It was slightly refreshing to not have a happy little bow on the story knowing there is going to be another book. I hate going into a sequel off a happy ending, too much heartache for a couple I'm already invested in. I'm glad the next book is slotted to come out in May 2016. I wouldn't have been able to wait much longer than that!
Molly McLain has the magic touch...
Taylor and Col are the stabilizing factor in each others lives. The bond they share is important to them despite time, distance and the travails of adulthood. But what happens when the tides change and intense feelings start to factor into the equation? Molly McLain has the magic touch when it comes to high octane reactive stories. She writes stories filled with climatic passion, that have a little bit of that naughty feel mixed with soulful emotion. Fly has a little coming of age added in but is still a beautifully written look at the path of friends to lovers. Requested an ARC of Fly from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this story! While it's a basic friends to lovers story, it has enough twists and nuances to the story to make it unique and fresh. One warning - the story doesn't end with the last page of this book! Colton and Taylor's story will be continued in the next book. I didn't know that and my blood pressure spiked a bit at the end!
Colton and Taylor have been best friends for years. Right now Colton is living his dream of riding on the FMX Circuit and doing quite well. There's only one thing missing - Taylor. Due to her father's recent illness, Taylor finds herself back home in the small town she grew up in, putting her plans of college on hold. I could feel the sparks between these two immediately but they both have flaws. Colton can definitely be a bit of a jerk at times and I wish Taylor had been a bit stronger and more decisive but ultimately they work well together. Until they don't.....
This is a great NA story and one I would definitely recommend.
