"A K Michaels creates a fantastic world with amazing characters who make you laugh, cry and cheer them on to victory. I am in absolute love with her Guild of Dragon Warriors and wait with bated breath for the next installment." Julia Mills, Author of the Dragon Guard series.
Master of the Guild of Dragon Warriors, Jaxon is heading back to their sanctuary, exhausted and injured, after a battle that the human realm has never before encountered. Supernatural beings fighting against the Demon King for survival of not only them, but all of humanity. It was horrendous, tortuous, and downright brutal. He and his fellow Dragons were lucky to escape with their lives and all he wants now is to reach home and recover, knowing it will take days for him to reach full fitness again.
When an urgent call for help reaches them, he has no option but to head out again and give the aid that he is sworn to deliver. What he finds is a unique being that is under threat and he vows to ensure her safety. No matter the cost.
His Dragon Warriors rally round and they must fight to protect the female in dire need of their defense. But Jaxon is not quite prepared for the consequences of his mercy mission and must make a decision that he never thought possible.
Come and follow Jaxon and his Guild of Dragon Warriors in Book 1 of New York Times Bestselling Author, A K Michaels’ brand new series.
Captivating, Sexy and Delightfully Entertaining!
Buttons over biscuits! There be dragons ahead, folks, lots and lots of sexy dragons! A.K. Michaels is my new hero, or in this case, maybe I should say heroine. I'm totally smitten with Jaxon's Sanctuary, the first release in Michael's riveting new series, Guild of Dragon Warriors. I'm such a happy camper! Can you tell I'm excited? No? Well, I am because I loved this book! I tend to get overly enthusiastic when I really enjoy a great read and this one is extraordinary! Now that you know I'm excited, I'll tell you a little more about the book and why I love it. The story is original, imaginative, unique, exciting, fast-paced, heartwarming, well crafted and even a little humorous. The dialogue is smart, crisp, sassy, exceptionally well written, well executed and flows effortlessly. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with alternating points of view from several of the characters. I counted four, two of which were the protagonists of the story, Jaxon who is the Master of the Guild of Dragon Warriors, and Sidra, a beautiful and feisty female who is Jaxon's Destiny which is what dragons call their mates. And Sidra is not human but I'll not be the one to spill the beans about what she is. No spoilers from me but I will say that you'll be shocked and love it just as much as I did! And now for my favorite component of Michaels's stories - her characters. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging, sexy as sin and quite often, also funny. Michaels is a gifted storyteller with exceptional skills in world building and the creation and development of fascinating characters. I always fall head over heels for her heroes and heroines, as well as her masterful villains, the kind we all love to hate. Sheer and utter perfection! I was thrilled when I discovered Michaels had introduced dragons in her Black Rose Chronicles Series and was even happier upon learning that she was introducing a new spinoff series featuring these dragons. But what in the world has happened to Michaels, the Queen of Cliffhangers? This book is a standalone without a cliffhanger! What? That's right and I loved it! Maybe, if we're lucky, she'll continue to reward her readers by following suit with all the books in this series. We can only hope, right? As I said, it's a standalone so if you haven't read The Black Rose Chronicles yet, no worries, you'll be able to easily follow this series but I will say, if you haven't, you've missed a fantastic one. But I digress, let's talk about Jaxon's Sanctuary and you better buckle up, because it's a wild ride!
Basilius, the King of hell has finally been defeated and killed but the cost was great and many of their new allies were killed in the battle. Jaxon has been seriously injured and two of his warriors, Terigan, his second in command, and Allyssa, his ice dragoness comrade, are mortally wounded and in need of healing by their Dragon Goddess Zeeandra. Terigan and Allyssa are both transported to Zeeandra's temple which leaves him to make the long journey home alone. Jaxon has long dreaded the day the secret of their existence would be exposed to the world also revealing the closely guarded secret location of their village where the beings they'd rescued and given safe harbor, now currently reside in peace and harmony. Jaxon fears for all their safety but they would face it head on and together, just like they have everything else. But first he needs to heal and in order to do that, he must lie in the healing waters of the valley's hidden spring. Unfortunately, his rest is interrupted by disturbing visions of a mysterious woman being chased by demons and fleeing for her very life. Her soul calls to him and Jaxon knows she means something to him, something important. But what does she mean to him? Why is she important? Who is this beautiful woman? And more importantly, what is she? He has no idea, but of one thing he is certain; he must discover the answer and soon. It's only when he receives an urgent call for help from two of his warriors who are trying to rescue a beautiful woman carrying an infant from five demons that Jaxon will finally discover the answers he seeks and those answers will change the course of not only his life but will also impact every member of the Dragon Guild. Surely, this woman could not be his Destiny, could she? The King of Hell is dead, so why are demons chasing her? But the better question may be, who is giving the orders to the demons trying to capture her? Will Jaxon be able to save the mysterious woman before it's too late?
What did I love about this book? Duh....everything! This book had everything I love most in a story. Like what, you ask? It has danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, angst and romance. I was on the edge of seat from beginning to end! What didn't I like? Not a darn thing! Would I recommend this book? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since there are a few dreamy love scenes. Will I read this author again? Uh...is that a trick question? I will absolutely read this author again, just as soon as she releases her next book. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Reads like a fan-fic
The writing isn't very good, but I was able to follow story. Which is why I wanted to give it 2.5 stars. It actually was a good concept, but .... The story started off great. I had very high hopes, was very excited. Except, the dragons sound like teenagers or twenty somethings. They are centuries old and they sounded like teens. Not an ounce of intelligence between any of them. That was my biggest problem with the story. The author failed to make the dialogue between the dragons believable for me. However, she was able to bring out their strengths and fierceness, which is why I continued reading. The author definitely over used her Thesaurus. Even with all that, the story held me until the end. Lots of excitement. The intimate parts between Jax and Sidra were not written well. A little boring. You can see she was trying to create something more sensual, but it missed the mark. I got the feeling the author was very young or an amateur. I enjoyed it, but not enough to continue with the series.
To not be denied
Sometimes a dream can lead your destiny..
We got a chance to met some of these dragons in other stories from this author. But Wow what a start to the series. Jaxon is the Master of Guild and taking care of others safe in the Sanctuary is just one of the many things he looks out for. He is a true leader. But even leaders have dreams and here lately he has been dreaming about a woman running holding something very important in her arms. But what? Sidra is a beautiful woman with a sassy temper and she has caught the eye of Jaxon.. He knows she is important I mean come on she is his mate but she has dark forces coming against her. Will he save her? Is there forever for them?..I was given this book in exchange for an honest review and I will not lie with the mystery myth and demon and dragon the adventure is so captivating..
