“Um… Who’s there?”
Yeah. That was me, on my last date. Before you feel sorry for me you should know that I was the one telling the jokes. Jokes as in plural, because I didn’t stop with just one. Of course not.
Hi, I’m Chloe Scott. The most awkward single girl in the city.
But I’m going to get it together. I am.
I’m going to learn how to date like a grown up.
I’m going to have an orgasm not given to myself.
I’m going to fall in love and live happily ever after.
Right after I get out of this interrogation room.
Chloe and Boyding...Trust me it works for them!
Chloe and Boyding.... I had wondered from Jana's first book Wrong, if Sophie's brother Boyd Gallagher would end up falling for one of her friends. At first I was thinking Everly but she really is out there and then she ended up with Sawyer so Chloe started ruminating in my mind. But Chloe is so straight laced and practical, is that the type of woman that Boyd is attracted to? Well as it turns out, Chloe may act all level headed and pragmatic around her close friends, but get her out in the dating world and she's a totally different person.
Up til now all we know about Boyd is that he works for the FBI and he's recently tracked down Sophie and revealed that he's her half brother as a result of an affair between his father and her mother. We know he's good looking but that's all Jana has given us so far. In Trust, we get to see lots of sides of Boyd, and they're all good, trust me!!
I loved Chloe's journey through the dating world. A self professed failure at dating, she's tried various online dating sites which have resulted in several disastrous experiences. After finally meeting a guy who seems perfect, that date ends up in disaster as well, with Chloe sitting in an interrogation room being questioned by one FBI agent Boyd Gallagher. As if things couldn't get any worse for Chloe, she ends up seeing Boyd the very next day at the hospital while she's visiting her friend Sophie and Boyd walks in because he's there to visit his sister!
Jana does a great job of weaving the chemistry that Boyd and Chloe have all throughout the book. I loved how intuitive Boyd is of Chloe, how he can read her thoughts and feelings and knows how to react to them without her even having to say anything. It was funny but not funny to witness Chloe's social anxiety which she tries hard to cover with telling bad jokes. Suffering from social anxiety myself on occasion, I could totally relate to the emotions and fears that Chloe felt in various situations.
Watching the progression of the relationship between Chloe and Boyd was highly entertaining and endearing at the same time. And seeing Chloe open herself up to Boyd and take a chance with her heart made me feel such a variety of emotions! Jana really nailed the character of Chloe, all of her inner thoughts and emotions, her insecurities and fears, but also her hopes and dreams and desires.
I fell hard for Boyd and his patience with Chloe, understanding how to tread with her, but also kicking himself when he felt he had pushed her too hard. I think it was perfect that there is a 10 year age difference between Chloe and Boyd, because she needed someone who was more mature and experienced to help guide her through how to process her feelings.
I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed reading about Chloe and Boyd, and how they weren't dating but were "Chloe and Boyding" that was perfect!!
Another amazing book, Jana!!
A fun read that will make you smile. Boyd will make you swoon at the same. A sweet enjoyable read.
Gahhh, I love this author!! I'm literally laughing and swooning so hard right now! Trust was amazing! Way too short!!
